Chung cocaine indictment?

True to form there is a ton of convicting and character judgement going on in this thread without hardly any facts....*SHOCKED*

There's a report that it was found in his house after an alarm went off. Those may not be the facts, but they are the "facts" as we currently are hearing them. So I'm not really sure what your point is, on this one.

Right. Where is all of this convicting and character judgement?

Well it was worth a shot. Thanks for the info, I wasn't sure exactly when it was done.

Ken, I found an article (behind WP pay wall) that discusses Chris Long’s Interview with Dan Patrick after he retired; the interview where he shredded the NFL’s stance on drugs.

Anyway, in the article it mentions PED tests occur regularly throughout the year while tests for drugs of abuse happen once per player between April and August.

So we were both in the right direction.

actually, chung's ass will be in goodell's vice regardless of the outcome of the trial
I’d be shocked if that wasn’t the case either way. I’d have to think that at least four games, no matter the outcome, is a guarantee at this point.

So now after reading more details, there was an alarm at his house, and the officers entered an empty house with probable cause.

Unless the coke was laying out on a living room table, they might have searched his drawers or cabinets for it.

One wonders, in that case, if probable cause even allows police to do something like that.
Maybe the B&E was a Godell minion planting the coke.

i don’t care about him being suspended for a few games. it’s the long term implications on the 2019 season I’m more worried about...

it could be 4 games, but it could be more......this falls under the personal conduct policy, not the substance abuse policy.....regardless, the suspension will only occur after a verdict is rendered in the case........and he can be suspended whether or not he is found guilty.......this is where goodell can decide guilt

Surprised that this would be under the personal conduct....

Why is that? Possession of drugs = possession of substance = likely substance abuse?

Fortunately for him, he's a rich man. He'll hire the best defense team money can buy and get the best possible outcome which may end up being nothing at all. If this happened to one of us ...well not so much

public service announcement . re. tonight jumping off the ledge or to conclusions..

DOUG KYED IS A PATRIOTS PLANT WHO'S COVERING FOR THE TEAM!!!!!!!

I'm a Pats fan in Atlanta who has defended numerous drug cases in both state and federal court. Let's assume 2 facts as true: 1) the police entered the house pursuant to a tripped burglar alarm and 2) there is no direct evidence linking him to the coke (eg his fingerprints are not on the container). If so, even though the search is probably righteous (within limits), this is an extremely weak case. Assuming he's had visitors in his house, there are so many avenues for reasonable doubt I don't even know where to begin. I'll go more in depth when more facts come out, but he doesn't even need a fall guy for this. He'll walk without a scratch on him.

unless it is Brady one player won't de-rail the season, not with the cake walk division and schedule we have

He might get a small suspension - 4 games - but that would likely be next year, if not after. They really can't suspend him on the facts thus far.

Was he even there?
Did someone go into the house and set off the alarm?

In any case, it's likely his career with the Patriots is over. My sources tell me that Jim Irsay caught wind of this and called Kraft and Belichick immediately, offering Eric Ebron and Quenton Nelson straight up for Chung.

OT:
I know the neighborhood of Chung’s Meredith house quite well. Many Years ago, a drunk boater was speeding down Meredith Bay at 3am in a Cigarette boat. The boat hit the end of a pier at an estimated 70 mph, went flying thru the air and landed upside down and inside a home set back 100 feet from the waters edge. All passengers dead.
From the map I just looked at, could very easily be the same lot.
I boated to the house the next day and couldn’t believe the distance the boat traveled in the air, with half the boat resting inside the house.
Not prime water front real estate because a railroad track skirted the shore.

Now we know why Coke Eyes Gase took the job in NY. Wanted to be close enough to buy from Chung's yeyo distribution.

A naive question: does an indictment for possession alone imply there was no evidence of either use or sale, else those charges would have been levied as well?

As a legal novice, I would think proving the drugs found to Chung's may be a difficult task. If you consider they responded to a B&E. So someone else was in the house before they went in. Secondly if they searched any closed draws whatever they found would have been illegally obtained. If it was found in the open, could they prove beyond a doubt it wasn't the intruders drugs?
Anyway, I may watch too many detective shows to tell the difference between real law and TV drama but those are my first thoughts. Remember Ty Laws little run in way back when.
