Chung cocaine indictment?

I think there's unfortunately no way he doesn't get 4 games if not cut outright. It's not weed possession or even an alcohol DUI (while much worse ethically, the entire Cardinals front office gets away with it).

If you test positive you get 4 games.
Does the CBA say anything about possession?
Especially in a home, where it can be found anywhere, not necessarily on your person, especially in a home occupied or visited by other people.
What does the CBA say about all of this?

Why? Do we know if he is dealing (probably not)? Pats gave a second chance to Gordon, Harmon ... IMO they don't care about this little stuff, they see the big picture.

Oh Patrick, you dumbass.

Obi Melifonwu and Duke Dawson just gave each other high fives.

He'll get probation and a suspension and won't get cut.

That is the most likely outcome I think. I imagine it won't effect this year at the least. Hopefully he needs to complete a program, pay a fine and go on probation. I imagine that it where this ends up.

Not just because he's rich and can hire a good lawyer. It isn't in the anyone's interest to send first time offenders of drug possession to prison. Even a normal person in a similar situation would end up with the same deal.

Could cocaine be considered a performance enhancer?
Id think so to be honest

What is your point? They find the drug with him, it is not a drug test NFL did. As far we know he could be buying for a friend or in a drug bust.

If Chung exhausts all of his legal options (rather than pleading guilty now), then there’s a decent chance that it won’t affect his 2019 availability.

So now after reading more details, there was an alarm at his house, and the officers entered an empty house with probable cause.

Unless the coke was laying out on a living room table, they might have searched his drawers or cabinets for it.

One wonders, in that case, if probable cause even allows police to do something like that.

I really don't think it effects this season. Particularly with high priced lawyers involved.

Wouldn't be out of the question if they entered with no one home. Unless like you said it was just out?

Is it national headline news yet?! *smh*

This is crucial, and really demonstrates just how absurd the whole situation is.

It was at his house, not in the public eye, and not being distributed as far as we know. Definition of a victimless crime.

If they searched his premises without a warrant this should be thrown out and the officers present should be reprimanded. Heck, even if it was lying in plain sight, that was not the reason they came (the alarm was), so they have no business pursuing a charge over an unattended bag of coke in someone's house, when it's entirely unrelated to why they initially arrived.

I honestly don't care if someone does a little cocaine in their spare time. Hopefully it isn't a full blown addiction though. I hope above all else he is in a good place.

I wonder how this all came to light. I don't think Chung is in night clubs doing lines in public or throwing cocaine parties every weekend. You never hear anything about his personal life.

Are you kidding me dude? This isn’t weed. Cocaine is a horrible addicting drug

Patriots’ Chung facing Belknap County drug charge

According to this, it says the police responded to a tripped burglar alarm, entered the house, and found cocaine. So Chung was most likely not home at the time. I'm guessing he figured it out when he got home and his cocaine was gone.

So plenty of wiggle room for the Cris Carter's fall guy if that is truly the scenario. "I wasn't there I let Ty Law's cousin use the place" and bingo, Chung is off the hook.

So I don't think he needs Kraft's legal team, hopefully he can somehow place himself somewhere far away from NH on that date.

Remember you can indict a ham sandwich, all prosecution, no defense in the grand jury room. Proving it in court, that's another story.

Was going to say the same thing, assuming the report I saw is accurate

1. Either it was out in the open when the cops were securing the premises or

2. They started going through things.

I would venture to guess that a good lawyer would destroy either argument in court.

For 1, you could argue it could have been anyone’s (friend watching the house, trips alarm et al)

For 2, that screams “podunk cops looking to make a name” ala Jupiter and the Sex Trafficking report with Kraft.

Yes, and? I'd argue it's not our business to regulate what citizens consume in private, as that's ultimately a matter of personal privacy.

It is our business to provide them with adequate resources to seek mental and physical healthcare if their consumption of any given drug becomes problematic for themselves or others.
