Bill Belichick: Dominance Among Peers

Confirming what we've all long suspected. It's not just since he became a member of the (ahem) media, Chris Simms has always been an idiot

I don’t buy it either. I think they were seeing the ghosts of David Tyree and Mario Manningham at that point. The look of horror on Brady’s face after the Kearse catch said it all. I think they were all shell shocked.

Belichick didn't even flinch when Amendola scored the game winning TD against the Jaguars while the whole sidelines, including the coaches, were going nuts. But yeah, he totally seems like a guy that gets shell shocked.

Had they lost that game, he’d be 0-3 in Super Bowls since 2007 and going on 11 years without a Super Bowl title. You are lying to yourself if you think that thought was not in the back of his head after his defense just let the Seahawks trot down the field with ease and about to go in for the game winning score.

So that's the reason he didn't call a timeout? He was so worried about losing another Super Bowl, he wanted to get it over with sooner or something?

Patrick Graham talked about the non timeout call in the Do Your Job documentary. He's on the headset asking about it and Belichick calmly says "Yeah I got it," as Graham put it, as if they were talking in the meeting room. (You can even see Bill say it)

It's ok to have a debate about it being the correct move strategically, but nothing leads me to believe it was born out of some kind of panic or choke job.

You haven't been watching much Patriots football the past 20 years.

BB is nothing but focused on the job at hand. If you think his mind ever wanders, he gets sidetracked or his emotions cloud his actions then perhaps you should just stop embarrassing yourself at this point.

Um, I know one who wouldn't bench a first-round pick for an astronomically superior in every way experienced proven 5th round pick

Or for a guy they got off the scrap heap from Chicago.

You blame BB for being hard-headed and not at least trying to see what he can do. I get it.

I blame MB for not being ready, prepared and focused on the game which by BB knowing that, basically eliminates him from any consideration of playing in the defense.
Go the next step further. Butler wasn't just not-ready to go for the Super Bowl, he'd played like dogshit most of the season.

Where does all this irrational confidence in Butler's ability come from? A single play he made 3 years prior? He let the team down all season, and then leading up to the biggest spot of the year, did it again. Belichick didn't think he could help the team. I support him in that, considering the trajectory of Butler's season, and everything we've actually heard people say, since then, rather than this romanticized notion that, despite all available evidence to the contrary, Malcolm Butler would magically swoop in and single-handedly win the game.

2017 Malcolm Butler and 2014 Malcolm Butler are two very different people.

I haven't gone there because for the first 18 games he played 97% of the snaps. In theory that tells us even with MBs deficiencies and average year, he'd still play him. I do think BB felt his smallish frame was a bad matchup on the outside vs the Iggles bigger receivers.

With the flu, lack of focus & preparation, the matchup issues and the year he had had, all those factors led to the decision not to play him.

Players on this team aren't told they start until the day of the game. Depending on matchup, injury and game plan it varies

right, so it was the coaches decision and the result is on him

When an employee doesn't perform, he removes himself from consideration and self-selects himself out of the job

Super Bowl 52 was a league mandated 60 minutes of playing time. What, pray tell, in the first 30-40 minutes of that game gave you the confidence that EricRowe/Johnson Bademosi/Jordan Richards were “performing”?????

Your argument is simply insane. That game was a situation of banging one's head against the wall without stopping. You’re one of he people who wouldn’t choose to stop. Philadelphia thanks you!

Based on the entire week leading up to the game, it came down to BB having more confidence in them than Malcolm to execute the game plan.

You don't buy that. Thats your issue- not mine.

lol......bullsh1t
If you want people working for you who aren't prepared to do their job, thats your decision. He didn't trust or have confidence in MB to do what would be asked of him. It's quite simple really.

Correct your post by inserting the names of Rowe/Richards/Bademosi in place of Butler.

Now you’ve got it!

Actually, the issue anyone who cares about the Patriots who would be preparing for the Fourpeat at this moment. But way to anesthesize yourself from any awareness of that.

To any non-comatose person who actually watched it, it was patently obvious less than 30 minutes in that the Pats had to adjust that D that was getting beaten by Nick Freaking Foles.

It's even rumored that Captain Obvious from those travel commercials actually yelled out in the 3rd quarter "Get Jordan Richards off that field!!!"

Did you actually SEE they game? Unbelievable.

Robert Weather: ‘Sir, the Titanic is heading straight for that iceberg. We have plenty of time to adjust but let’s keep on the same trajectory ok?”

Seems like the mandate failed where the defenses were concerned. All tolled between the two D's I don't think they truly plyed their trade for more than 10 minutes

How perfect is this video
Though
I have no doubt I wouldn’t remember half the verbiage in those insane play calls
Unless
I had my trusty TB12 Memory App ($79.95 + shipping, handling, surcharge & disposal fee)

Yup. But one defense had an excuse - - they were facing Future Hall of Famer Tom Brady, but going all in.
The other one was holding out a starter and being beaten up by Future Hall of Famer Nick Foles. o_O
