Ray Lewis’ antics were weird too. But I agree Richards looked like that Southwest Airlines commercial “want to get away?” He looked horrified.

The beauty of this take is that we will never know since he never played. Some of my favorite designs are the ones that never get built, since there is no liability.

It's almost a philosophical thought experiment at this point. Like the chicken or the egg, or what's the sound of one hand clapping. The two are so inextricably linked that to ask who is more important is like trying to ask if a zipper would work better if you removed the left side or the right side.

Yea but what I meant to imply was we wouldn't be having this discussion. He would have played and whatever happened would have happened.

You asked for some possible reasons. I supplied a possibility. What you do with it is up to you. Personally, I think Butler's potential weak play (that evidenced itself the next time he took the field for quite a stretch) played a role.

the problem with any of these kinds of theories is the jordan richards effect........there was no real football reason to not give butler a chance to improve on what richards was doing out there....none at all.......if there was a real football reason, it would have come out by now

this is a coach who put WR's out there in a pinch........

Forgot about that. But I think a few factors (Flu, injuries, & Spotty officiating) led to the loss in Indy. The offense, all things considered, put up 24 offensive points on the road.

I don’t buy it either. I think they were seeing the ghosts of David Tyree and Mario Manningham at that point. The look of horror on Brady’s face after the Kearse catch said it all. I think they were all shell shocked.

Colts also cranked up the heat and piped in crowd noise. I remember Pats players complaining it was hotter than usual.
