Sweet, you sound like a customer for his Brookline home...He’s earned the benefit of the doubt.

Anyone that says it’s easy to duplicate the results of having the GOAT coach and QB together for 20 years should be locked up.I appreciate your post, and I agree with at least most, if not all, of it. I just think that people here have developed the notion that what's happened here under Brady is normal and easily duplicated because of good coaching, when NFL history makes it clear that such is not usually how it works.
Considering not even ONE QB has been the regular starting QB for an NFL team at age 43, it's hard to blame them.
This is pure age discrimination at this point. He’s running a 40 yd dash faster than at his combine 20 years ago. There’s absolutely no deterioration in performance. Multiple stats show his deep throws are as long and accurate as ever. This isn’t Manning throwing ducks at age 39.
The only reason we’re not extending Tom is that he’s 42. This is the very definition of age discrimination.
The only reason why life insurance companies charge more for 40-somethings than for 20-somethings is that they're in their 40s. All manner of folks in all jobs are working longer and even athletes are lasting much longer. 20 years from now when all QBs regularly play into their 40s we’ll laugh and cringe at the primitive mindset at the time just like now we laugh and cringe at all manners of discrimination 20-30 years ago.
Yeah that’s also what I called my crap bonus last year at my job to my wife “it is what it is”. She wasn’t happy either.
Except Brady was already locked in for this year before this contract.
When he has had the opportunity to build his program, hes gone 11-5 w/o Brady- twice so stop spewing your BS narrative that BB sucks w/o Tom because its not true.
You’re right. Tom is super happy to not get a guaranteed mutiyear contract that keeps him a Patriot until retirement at a reasonable price.
He is super happy he’ll have to face the uncertainty of FA
Look, the Patriots did this in the context of putting together a roster for 2019 with some very competitive position groups and a couple of holes at receiver, TE and LT. This deal locks in Brady at $23 for this year and sets up 20 and 21 while they sift through the rest of the players.
The Patriots' leverage is that they can decide to walk away, too. If Brady and Don Yee get little or no interest above the $30-32M for 20 and 21 from a team that makes sense for Tom Brady, they'll get the hometown premium in this case at or near the level in this contract.
I think they'll sort out the guaranteed, bonus and incentive money in Brady's promised $62 million for 20 and 21 at some point during the season.
It’s never going to get that far.If Brady can find no interest from other teams for $30M, then it would mean that Brady's health and/or skills have seriously deteriorated. In that case, why would the patriots offer $30M? No, if Brady isn't worth $30M, he'll likely retire.
Yup, Vinatieri will be 47 in December. So there's a chance we have the first AARP player in the NFL?
Bingo...It’s never going to get that far.
They’ll simply renegotiate when the season is over, and before free agency. As long as Brady hasn’t fallen off or isn’t injured, the Patriots aren’t going to allow him to hit free agency.

If he has taken steps back that are obvious and noticeable, he’ll likely retire.
Even if he wants to hit free agency, they’ll still be in contact about fielding offers and negotiating the entire time. They’d have to really lowball him for him to want to leave.Unless Brady WANTS to hit free agency. Even if it’s only to hold the the Pats feet to the fire by fielding offers from other teams. There’s nothing the Pats can do to stop him from testing the market if that’s what he wants, they have no leverage.
Yea I don't think he is super happy. I dont even think he is happy. That doesn't mean he is unhappy. Like he said, it is what it is. He is ambivalent at this point. Like he said, he's got 2019 and he's focusing on 2019. He knows that if he plays lights out, he is free to do what he wants in 2020 w/o having to worry about being tagged.I think he is. This looks like he and the team are taking a year to year approach.
If he plays up to his and the team's expectations this season they'll go another year.
1) Sure the patriots wanted 2019 cap help. The issue is why they decided to let Brady go without giving him money for 2020.
2) The contract is automatically voided. I'm confused. If Brady can find no interest from other teams for $30M, then it would mean that Brady's health and/or skills have seriously deteriorated. In that case, why would the patriots offer $30M? No, if Brady isn't worth $30M, he'll likely retire.
