Some Rob Gronkowski thoughts, etc -

I agree that Gronk is most likely not coming back, but there is some real journalism malpractice going on in 2019. Maybe Phil Perry doesn't understand the power of words, but if you're in the print media, it's a prerequisite to understand that words have meaning.

He claims in a tweet that Gronk "swears" he's retired. Nothing in the linked article quote by Gronk states that.

Gronk says he’s retired. For good. He swears. https://www.nbcsports.com/boston/patriots/gronk-rumors-potential-return-you-can-put-them-rest …

""....Oh man! Whatever I say, it doesn't matter. It will always be crazy out there, but you can put them to rest," Gronkowski said per ESPN's Mike Reiss. "I'm feeling good. [In a] good place. It's great to be back here......"

Does anyone read in those words "I swear, I'm retired"?????

If Mr. Perry wants credibility, he has a responsibility to his readers for accuracy and truth.
If Gronk wanted to play a handful of games mostly in the postseason because the grind is getting to him he would be doing and saying exactly what he is doing now.
That doesn’t mean he does want to do that just that nothing he says definitively would rule it out.

And if he does come back you can guarantee we will be accused of cheating.

Clayton Kershaw gutted it out similar to Gronk last year, he seems to be feeling a lot better now.

That is nice.

Baseball and Football are profoundly different games.
A good baseball player will have a noticeably longer career than a football player.

Clayton Kershaw's injuries are piling up too. Does he have a history like:

Wrong. Back injuries do not heal with an extras 3 months rest. The reason he is retiring is that is body is beat up from all of the accumulated wear and tear that football causes. Why would he say to himself "gee I feel great so I think I will go back and beat myself up again." ( I agree that the WWE would not be a good fit for him full time for the same reasons.)

There are several articles stating:

Rob Gronkowski: 'You can put [comeback talk] to rest'

By the way If skipping training camp is the recipe for success why do we ask any players to endure it at all?
I think Tom and Rob are(were) corner cases.

No but he torques his back 100 times whenever he plays. A back injury is not easy for a pitcher to overcome. He did, you said backs don't heal.

Sigh.

Yes, they are both in the back area.

What happens to Gronk's back in the playing of his sport is profoundly different than what happens to Kershaw's in his.

It's an idiotic comparison.

We tried...

I have no ill will towards Clayton Kershaw.

Have any of his back strains required surgery?

We tried...
Tiger Woods has a titanium rod in his back and just won the Masters.

Pitching and golf rely heavily on your back. Obviously it is not football, but just because it isn't an identical comparison doesn't mean it is an idiotic one.

You can not hide a back issue in golf or baseball and compete at the highest level. Both athletes I references came back from their injuries and thrived.

To say that Rob can't take 9 months off, seek the greatest medical care in the world, do pilates, do yoga, blood enrichment, stretch etc etc......... and then see how he feels... that is short sighted.

Maybe he won't play again, but IF he was determined to be on a mission of healing himself then he could feel much better in fall 2019 then fall 2018.

Woods and Kershaw don't have people specifically trying to blow out more of their discs.

Ok enough of the trolling, kid.

I'm not trolling, it's called humor. I get it, football is a tough sport and Gronk has been through the ringer.

Willie Mcginist's first instinct was that Gronk would return, I felt the same way.

If he hangs it up for good I totally get it though

Woof (my apologies), a 78% chance of injury this season, and you know that’s an underestimate based on him somehow missing only 0 or 1 game in four seasons.
NFL is a meat grinder.

Gronk has had several other injuries not just his back.
I initially wrote about his back because it may cause the most trouble as he ages.

If Gronk looked you in the eye today with a so-so back and said "I will do everything in my ability to be as healthy as possible by 12/8 vs Cheifs" ...

Gun to your head where would you put Gronk on list of TEs you would want on the Patriots on 12/8/19?
