Lions Sign Amendola

He tweeted this immediately after RapSheet broke the news.

Is Howe just guessing something very possible (but without confirmation) in order to get retweets/exposure? Why no "per source" at the end of the tweet?

Ask Mangini if Bill holds grudges. Bill forgives all kinds of behavior - but is much less willing to forgive disloyalty. BB knows it is a business - I think Dola’s mistake was making it personal.

It's not easy, that's for sure. He's an a--hole sometimes. There were a lot of things I didn't like about playing for him, but I must say, the things I didn't like were all in regards to getting the team better, and I respected him," Amendola told ESPN's Mike Reiss."I didn't like practicing in the snow, I didn't like practicing in the rain, but that was going to make us a better football team and that was going to make me a better football player. It wasn't easy, and he'd be the first to admit, at the [Super Bowl] ring ceremony, that it wasn't easy playing for him. The silver lining was that we were at the ring ceremony."

Yep Tweet Whore!

A rookie WR or TE would see very little action his first year. I do think they should
draft one or two of each to develop.

Pats Rookies:

HT started 14 games, CJ 14 games, Gronk 11 ... They will see a LOT of action. We have ONE WR, if we draft AJ Brown he will be a starter day one

He made further comments later, basically saying he was glad to be done with the “****” you deal with in NE. He also broached Butler - something that BB has very pointedly not done publicly - and at a time when there was all sorts of criticism raining down on BB for that.

In the Super Bowl Post Game interview with Boomer last month, Belichick was asked about his thoughts on the great receivers this team has had in the B&B era. Boomer named Randy, Jules, Welker, Troy Brown and Bill added “Danny Amendola”.

If the money is suitable for both sides, Bill would take Mr. Clutch back in a heartbeat.

Not great enough to pay him.

I heard that too it seems like Dola shot his way out of town. I can't see BB bringing him back knowing how paltry the group is also Flash Gordon's uncertainty. Young fresh blood is desperately Needed at the position. I can live with the growing pains.

I think the Pats will pass on Both why?? Great year to get a Top Flight TE and WR through the Draft. We can't dodge that avenue forever and I can't see us paying Humphries or Tate $10+Mill per.
I'm not really counting on the Pat's to draft a WR who can contribute right away. First they have to learn the offense and secondly earn Brady's trust. It's taken Dorsett over a year to begin being trusted and some games he was never thrown to at all

Andelman comes with a sparkling resume.

Eddie would be my backup plan in case the drafted WR winds up joining the other 25 WRs the Pat's have drafted that are now out of the league

Not if they are Good: Rookies making an Impact is not far fetched as Sony Michel showed.
Why can't the Pat's find a WR then?

Branch and Givens were the last ones. Edelman was a QB who was developed to play WR.

Bring Eddie back for another run at the cup.

Not great enough to pay him.

BB plays the money game, as part of his 'gm' role.

Wes Welker is the greatest slot WR to ever play the game. That wasn't enough for BB to pay him on a long term deal, which led to Welker catching hospital balls from Peyton. Richard Seymour is the greatest defensive player BB's ever drafted, and one of the best 2-3 to ever play for him in New England. And BB shipped his ass out rather than pay him in 2009. Tom Brady is the G.O.A.T., and , while not cheaping out, BB has never given him a contract that made that abundantly clear. Ty Law called BB a liar, yet BB was willing to take him back on the team, though Law eventually went elsewhere.

sure seems like you're smoking the wacky...

Forget about grudges. Amendola said nothing. The quote is mostly a compliment. "He's an a--hole sometimes???" BB is going to hold a grudge a year for this? Is this middle school???

BB probably chuckled at the time and thought, "A hole - sometimes - got that right."

Remember one more thing. The players are around the same ages as Bill's kids. That's how he looks at them. If you're in your mid 60's with children about Amendola's age and he's done what Danny has done for him (and you like him); you chuckle.

If Amendola comes, BB could even view this as a great teaching moment.

Was thinking of having both. Get this guy back in NE for 1 year, draft another in the first 3 rounds and then take a chance on someone like Hunter Renfrow in the 6th.
I'm good with that too

Amendola falls into the category of being a May or June question. AFTER the draft and probably AFTER the first organized activities. THEN, when they have gotten a first look at the WR they have pieced together with the draft, etc, Danny Amendola, if he's still available, will become someone to talk about. At this point of his career, he's a luxury item.

There is no doubt that he'd be of help since he knows the offense so well. But he isn't going to be a starter, but rather a back up #4 or 5 WR. Chatham made a good case for bringing him back, but certainly not now or in the next few weeks
