Lions Sign Amendola

A rookie WR or TE would see very little action his first year. I do think they should draft one or two of each to develop.

Not if they are Good: Rookies making an Impact is not far fetched as Sony Michel showed.

He will most likely sign with the Jets.

He is very good friends with Adam Gase and has said so on numerous occasions. He is also good friends with Jamal Adams on the Jets
Jets have plenty of cap space and Gase will go after him again.

"Coach Gase is one of the guys. He's our leader, he's our head coach, but he's also our boy. It's cool, it's refreshing to have that kind of relationship with a coach, something I haven't had in a long time. ... Back in New England, it's almost like you had a principal and a principal's office and s--- like that; in a good way and a bad way, too," Amendola said on the Comeback SZN podcast presented by Barstool Sports."

I also suspect that Amendola would choose to stay with Gase.

Does anyone think that Belichick would pay Amendola enough now to convince Amendola to stay? Has a season in Miami made Amendola worth that much more to Belichick?

why would a rookie WR see little time with our current state of things? Doesn't seem logical.

A rookie WR would need time to develop. We need to sign or trade for our #2 and #3 WR's. For this year, any rookie would be our #4 or #5 (if there is a #5, and he can beat out Berrios).

With regard to TE, a lot depends on Gronk's health and perhaps that of Bennett. My is that we sign or trade for a veteran like Jesse James. Any rookie shouldn't get many reps unless there is an injury.

Bringing him back is a no brainer. Trust, familiarity, and knowledge of offense for bargain basement price. Yes they need youth at WR, but the emphasis on the current year at hand is higher with the Patriots then the rest of the NFL fodder, who haven't gone supernova with a dynasty. Each of these seasons is inflated so much.

While the long term prospectus is something BB will always consider responsibly, when push comes to shove, the present should win the day with this team.

Maybe Olivia Culpo can convince him to sign with NE. In any event, it's not the end of the world if he signs with the Jets. The team needs to get younger at WR in bad way.

Bargain basement price? Why? Won't Gase and the jets give Amendola the same compensation as he got last year. Or do you consider $6M to be bargain basement?

Sorry but his friendship with TB and winning mean less than $. He won't be back.

I dont consider $6m bargain basement, I just dont think, at 33, he will see a deal like that again. I assumed he would be $4m at most. Gase brought him in as a win now option with a veteran QB and his butt on the hot seat. I doubt he wants to dish 6m for a guy not in long term plan. But then again they have a lot of cash to spend.

I dont think there together anymore. I saw a story were she bought him an expensive watch and kept it lol

Amendola took very pointed shots at the Pats leadership - probably to just cover for the fact that he left for money. Leaving for money is fine - trashing the house on the way out is not. He isn’t getting the money here.

Dola may really like Gase but what about his relationships with Brady and Edelman?

Bill consistently has shown he does not hold any grudges. Plus that’s really not what Dola said anyways.

Ask Mangini if Bill holds grudges. Bill forgives all kinds of behavior - but is much less willing to forgive disloyalty. BB knows it is a business - I think Dola’s mistake was making it personal.

I am good with bringing back both Amendola and Bennett on short money with some incentives available based on games/snaps/production. If they are looking for significant money (over $4M) then I'd pass and look to upgrade with youth. Both would be good complementary players who know the system and should be able to make some plays when called upon. Maybe even good candidates to PUP with a mid year return to increase likelihood of postseason contributions.

Name one player Bill holds a grudge against
