Kraft Orchids Case - Prosecuters Want a Tug Rule?

Bob's biggest value is he has deep pockets, let's Bill run the football operation and only steps in when absolutely necessary (see keeping Josh and mediating the BB/TB12 thing)

I'm kinda glad I don't have to sit in Schaeffer Stadium anymore or wistfully congratulate the St Louis Patriots for winning their 6th Super Bowl.

He also went through alot to GET Belichick - you may want to revisit how that happened. It's not like Belichick appeared unannounced as some blind luck.

No, Tom looks up to RK as a father figure
that's funny...all the kids in my neighborhood look up to me as their Uncle....

You think Kraft can hide behind saying he didn’t do any “illegal activity?” Lol
Words have meaning, the two are not the same so your argument falls apart since he never said that nothing happened.

If it was Arthur Blank or Art Rooney accused of the same, I don’t imagine Bart Scott would be yelling on the radio that their teams should have their entire drafts taken away. I doubt anyone would actually react much at all.

It’s a stupid act by Kraft if true, and possibly vile depending on his knowledge of the trafficking element (though I’m inclined to believe he was simply a run-of-the-mill patron at worst), but it’s all on him. Has nothing to do with the team or my opinion of the team.

@QuantumMechanic I don’t intend to merge this since it’s a very useful article, thank you for sharing it.

Agreed on Scott - that man is seriously damaged.

I wish I could agree on Kraft, but I can't. He wasn't a run-of-the-mill walk-in client. He knew where he was going, and if he didn't know the darker backstory, I have to think it was because, and only because, he didn't want too know.

I hope I'm wrong, though.

I’m gonna see if we can get Ian to implement an “ambiguous unexplained disagree” button.
LOL. I propose that Ian replace the scary red X disagree with something more suitable for the times... a nice snowflake perhaps?

Who cares, man? I’m not talking legal ramifications here. I am talking the court of public opinion. People aren’t going to see the difference.

I'm very sure most adults know the difference between legal speak and the truth.
Only a fool would speak anything other than what is cleared with their lawyer.
I am sure Kraft will make a statement when legally prudent to do so.

I doubt it. People are not going to emphathize with him based on a craftily worded statement by an attorney. And I hope it’s not the same lawyer who said “deflate” means weight loss.

a bunch of people must have me on ignore, cause those GIFs were hilarious!

How does it help women? If prostitution were legal, the women would be protected as workers under laws that protect all employees.

That's a great question, and there are a lot of different answers. For one thing, there's the reality of what has happened in countries that have tried to legalize and regulate the "industry." Legalization ends up increasing demand, and raising the incidence of trafficking and abuse. And there are more wrinkles. How about this: at one point, women in Nevada counties where prostitution was legal were being denied benefits like unemployment insurance and welfare because they refused to take available jobs selling their bodies. (Or imagine, for a moment, a brothel that claims special tax exemptions because of its program to hire the mentally handicapped.)

Then there's the argument that prostitution as an industry is inherently abusive and contributes to inequality by setting up a power dynamic where women are products to be evaluated and purchased by men. In the words of President Jimmy Carter, "If paying for sex is normalized, then every young boy will learn that women and girls are commodities to be bought and sold."

FWIW there is one form of semi-legalization which has had success by some measures: the Swedish model of decriminalizing the selling of sex, but not the buying.

Couple of thoughts:

I’m thinking that it may have been such a large scale operation (reported to be 10 different places, I think) that they felt that it would make sense to wait. As you know, it’s not necessarily uncommon to have a 6 month investigation. We see it all of the time in major task forces with the mob, with drugs, with multi-state gun rings, etc, even though people remain at risk. Despite the cramped living conditions, it’s possible that they could have had assurance that the lives of the women weren’t in immediate danger.

If there were multiple agencies involved, as reported, there could be a larger picture that hasn’t fully developed just yet. McCann alludes to the possibility of a federal investigation since it may have gone through different states. We’ll have to see how it plays out. I do find it odd that they only released 25 names and it’s been reported by multiple sources that there could be anywhere between 165-200 arrests when all is said and done.

Still do not get it, if these women were potentially in danger why wait?? Or were they waiting for the really big fish at the possible expence of them??

These women should not be used as pawns in this game.. if they were in danger, as it seems they were, take care of them first.

Well aware how it happened, thanks.

I haven't gone through 70 pages yet, so maybe this was asked.... Do you think he steps down and has Jonathan take over?

Ian we need a  instant response emoji or Icon: Poster you are day late and a dollar short. Your question was answered quite a few times on pages one to three.

Was just watching Two and a 1/2 Men and Charlie Harper made me think of Bob Kraft.

I think your issue is that you are personally offended ...
Nothing anyone says in this thread will satisfy you ...
You're just intent on tossing crap around in anger for a while.

I think your problem is you are overestimating the intelligence of everyday people in this country. I haven't tossed around anything in anger. I challenge you to find something I wrote like this.
