Part of the discussion last week was about the Chargers 7 DB look against the Ravens and how it would be absolutely silly to try it against Brady, to the point that no one actually discussed since it would be so easy to pick apart. So of course the Chargers just go with it, as though Brady and Lamar Jackson pose the same challenges. There's a lot of praise in the NFL for some very bright minds, but it is amazing how stubborn and obvious these guys can be. For this Chargers game, they were "trying to take away the deep play" according to several analysts. Really? Who on the Patriots is really a deep threat? Did they not see this coming, and were they not playing into the Patriots offense wet dream of a team hanging back and conceding easy lanes for Edelman and White? It's almost like their gameplan was tailored to suit the strengths of the Patriots.
