Noticed that the Colts, Chargers and Eagles all wore all white uniforms for their road wins this past Wild Card Weekend, just as we did when we did in fact establish ourselves as legitimate, perennial contenders in the modern pro football era in the seventies.

The San Francisco 49ers had four losing seasons out of five non playoff years prior to going 2-14 in 1978, and then 2-14 for the second straight year in Joe Montana's debut in 1979.

How did they look that season? Exactly like they did for the duration of the Montana dynasty.
No one said, "The 49ers damaged the league. The 49ers are a national disgrace. The 49ers are a laughingstock. Candlestick Park is a dump." etc.

The Packers had a quarter century of utter futility between Lombardi and Favre, yet their logo and uniforms remained identical throughout, to this day. No one said "The Packers suck; Lambeau Field is a dump" etc.

However, after our future, franchise quarterback and hometown hero Doug Flutie was stupidly cut and the Patriots had three inevitably poor seasons, some dipsh*t from St. Louis named Orthwein decided to give us a makeover ["Hey, lets use the same ugly thing that was booed out of the 60,000+ filled stadium in 1979. We don't care what Patriots fans think. In fact, they're all losers for being Patriots fans in the first place. The Patriots damaged the league. The Patriots are a national embarrassment. The Patriots are a laughingstock. Foxboro Stadium is a dump."]

So, that's how we went from having the best logo and uniforms in sports, to having for the last quarter century what has been rated the fifth-worst logo and uniform in the history of all sports, college and professional.

Nice going, Robert Kraft, who bought the team less than a year after the debacle, within days hand-wrote to creator Phil Bissell that "I too prefer the old logo" - and kept the ugly impostors on the team to this day.

Perhaps APF = Phil Bissell?

Finally! The voice of reason is back!
