Then quotes table that explicitly excludes throwaways to "prove" his point:

Brady is forcing passes under pressure.

Ya know like throwing the ball near a WR to not get penalized. Same as a throw away..

Nothing beats 06. The worst. Troy was done and Gaffney came on just in the nick of time but was a still a WR4 or 5

If Tom was stuck with that sorry bunch he would have retired

And Brady took that bunch to the AFCC. NE 21 - 6 INDY at the half. I was there and it was so hot in that dump that it was like being in a sauna.

1 more 1st down at the end would have sealed a trip to the SB in Miami for the Pats where Rex Grossman and the Bears were awaiting slaughter.

I would’ve agreed with that had they kept Jimmy G and transitioned him from Brady.

The likihood the Pats continue this train is very slim given how difficult it is to find a good QB.
Jimmy G having a down year.

There was no guarantee with Jimmy G. And no doubt that Brady a better bet than Jimmy for the short term anyway. (next 3 years, including this season)

PS: I do not believe that in the end Jimmy G's summit achievements will rival the heights of Brady's low points.

That year still kills me. We surrounded him with Doug Gabriel and those crappy Gator receivers.

It absolutely still kills Charger fans. That Charger team was the best Charger team in decades....and I thought we would get blown out when we went down 14-0 in the first quarter. Then Brady throws an INT, but Troy Brown bailed us out with a strip fumble recovery.

The Chargers had a HUGE rally the night before the game...the entire city was PRIMED to go to the Superbowl....... LT *****ing about our players celebrating at the 50 yard line and how BB was an a-hole......and oh...Brady went on his first date with Giselle after that game too!

Crazy season.....and yet we were ONE phantom PI on Hobbs away from playing the Rex Grossman Bears in the big game!

Ok. I have a question for the "oh my God the Pats suck" crew. Name 4 teams you would put money on to beat the Pats.

Name four teams that you would put 10 grand on because you are so sure they would beat the Pats.

You can't. Because there isn't four teams in the league that could beat the Pats convincingly or at least are so much better than the Pats that you would put money down on it.

So what do we have here? A bunch of "oh my God the Pats suck" crowd ignoring the state of the rest of the league and focusing on the two last losses as though it was some kind of barometer of the rest of the season.

Who thinks they could have won both the games in Miami and in Pittsburgh? Most do. So WTF are we talking about?

I'll tell you what we are talking about. A bunch of "Brady cliff" sympathizers feeling like today is the day.

Watch the film. Watch Brady. Watch the receivers. Watch the Secondary. You'll see that this is still a damn good team. It really can make it to the AFCCG and it can make it to the Super Bowl.

The Chargers are the team to beat right now in the AFC. Saints, Cowboys are the teams to beat in the NFC.

The Pats have their health and could beat anyone if they put up a complete game.

So after a couple of bad games the shytheads have come out of the woodwork.

People call me delusional and never look at the tape. GFY. The tape shows otherwise.

What a refreshing, succinct and accurate post! At least in my opinion lol. But all joking aside, you made some excellent, accurate points. I just can't get behind the "Patriots are finished" narrative. They're not dominating like last year or the year before, they've had some un-pretty losses. But they're 9-5, so they're a 9-5 team. As far as record goes, they're in the top 25% of the league. If that's sucking, then oh boy, I wonder what some people think about the Cardinals, Raiders or Jaguars this year! The Patriots standard is obscenely high, and so compared to 2014, 2016 or even last year, this team is in a down year. But you don't play Patriots teams of the past, you play the 2018 editions of the other 31 NFL teams, soon to be cut down to just 12. The team has not played to its potential in a single game this year, not on all 3 sides of the ball at the same time. For some reason I still believe they're going to get it together and make a run. If they fall short, so be it...it wasn't meant to be. But I absolutely refuse to say the Patriots "suck" or they're "done" when the final chapter of the season hasn't even been written yet. Trust and cheer the team on, this is when they need it

I go by the standard they’ve set. I don’t judge the Patriots by what the Steelers or the Rams are doing. I am looking at this team and this roster and saying it’s not good this year. Good enough to make the postseason? Yes of course but good enough to make/win a super bowl is a different story. You can bury your head in the sand and look at this team like a “we’re just happy to be here” postseason team but I look at this team like the New England Patriots.

Who's "burying" their head in the sand?

They've been good enough to beat the Texans. "But that was before the Texans were the Texans ".

They were good enough to beat the vaunted 3-0 Dolphins.

They were good enough to beat the " the high flying defense thrashing " Chiefs. " That was at Gillette "

Ok. They were good enough to beat the Bears in their house. " they almost lost though"

Ok. They won the king of GOATS game. Remember? " Aaron is going to shred this defense "

They beat the ever so worrisome Bills and their Brady crushing defense on bildo field.

Not enough?

Vikings? No?

The fact is that they are good enough to win some tough games against the top teams. They've proven it. Whether it's by match up, scheme, talent or whatever.

They're healthy. We'll see I guess.

I just read this gem of a quote from Bill Parcells. Does it pertain to this year's Patriots or what?

"No matter how much you've won, no matter how many games, no matter how many championships, no matter how many Super Bowls, you're not winning now, so you stink."

I think it implies that Parcells is a member of the forum.

I don't know what to tell you if you think this is a great Patriots team then more power to you. The only win worth talking about this year is the Chiefs. I don’t think Brady has played 4 full quarters this year as well as any point last year. Gronk can't get open and the defense carried their Super Bowl performance over to this year. Are they terrible? No. Are they flawed and no where near as good as the previous 3 years? Even the biggest home has to admit that.

I agree with most of that. I'm not saying they're the best team in the league. I do think they are good enough to beat the majority of the teams in the league because they have yet to put 4 solid quarters of play together. They've been close and have looked really good at times against good teams. They're relatively healthy, have the talent and potential to put up some good games. We'll see.

Btw, I think the Bears and the Viking wins are worth mentioning.

They had their best or most complete game vs the Vikings and mustered out a win against a very good Bears team on the road.

The Bears win is a good one, granted they didn't have Mack at anywhere near full strength but they are still a team I would feel confident against. The Vikings to me are a middle of the pack team and a solid win but nothing to write home about. In all honestly I feel like most of these teams are coming back to earth and any given Sunday could be our day. Plus I feel we retain the "we're playing the Patriots in the postseason" edge.
