Remember when McDaniels was being so adamantly defended on here a few weeks back?

How’s that working out?

Coaches have a big responsibility in this loss. We don’t have the receivers to stretch the field this year so it leaves a safety to double Gronk. Last year Cooks took that safety with him down the field and opened things up underneath.

The O this year has worked best when we run the ball and set up play action. Sony Michel avg 4.5 yds but only had 13 carries. Burkhead avg 6 yds but only 4 carries. That’s on Bill and Josh. Should have been runs to bring the safeties up and then get more 1 on 1 coverage for Brady to take advantage of. Instead we went pass happy, let them bring their rush, and have Gronk and others face double coverage.
They have seemingly good YPC but just cannot seem to consistently convert 3rd and short.

2009 all over again...WC game...that one was BAD.

Can't win on the road and mental toughness isn't there. Not having Josh Gordon out there last play? Penalties?

Ill be surprised if this team wins a playoff game...they just aren't very good

So to be clear, youre agreeing that Brady was really really really bad last week when he had 358 yards and 3 TDs? Ok cool, then you're an idiot too

He had one great half and a garbage second half which averages out to exactly that.. average. Go look at the splits for the two halves instead of talking about averages for the entire game.

Its ridiculous all the people on this board blaming Tom for the offensive struggles when the o-line & skill players on offense are at this point average at best. Simply take a minute and compare the Steelers offensive roster to ours and except QB which roster would you rather have? Poor team building and GM personnel decisions is why we are here...

Brady isn’t as good as he was last year. But he is far from the actual problem.

On offense main issues are the penalties. How many drives were killed today because of these?

Prime Tom could probably carry this offense. 41 year old Tom can not

The Pats have been at or near the top of the NFL since 2001. How long can you reasonably expect the team to keep it up year after year? Constantly drafting in the 30-32 slot, you need to take chances on prospects that have dropped due to injuries or inconsistent play. For every Gronk, who missed his senior year due to a bad back, there is a Dominique Easley or a Ras-I-Dowling. I would feel a bit more confident if there was a TB replacement already being groomed. I feel there will be 2-4 years of good, but not great, teams, some of which may not reach the playoffs. Hopefully, the rebuild will put the Pats back where they have been for so long. We still have the memories of the last 15+ years of excellence to savor.

You want to know something sad?

Over this run, every time a commentator goes "Well you don't want to leave Brady with this much time..." or "The Pats are a great in these situations" I smile and say "ain't that the truth"

In this game every-time Tony said that, I was thinking "not this team" and "the opposite is probably going to happen" and each time that's how it turned out.

This team doesn't have "it". Bill wanting to keep Jimmy G last year wouldn't have been the final straw but the Butler benching/SB loss made it so. The ONE constant of the constantly changing team during the Pats dynasty was Brady being 100% bought in to Belichick and the team following suit.

While they will never have the actual dysfunction of say a Steelers team, the difference is more nu nuanced but enough and is showing on the field.

Yup, they were. When Michel started ripping some big runs on the 1st half drive that ended on the Brown holding call I was thinking the runs working, we gotta come back to it next drive and use play action off it. We didn’t come back to it until the 4th qtr. No idea why.

Please tell me you that you think the defense played well. The last drive was a perfect example....ball deep in Pitt territory needing a 3 and out and what happens, Pitt comes down the field and scores a fg…..If you think the defense played well, I can't help you.

Did the offense play well, no, not at all and I said that in my post, but do not try and defend this defense, just don't.

No matter how one perceives this D . the fact is they gave more opportunities to Pats O to take control of the game and win it / tie it . than the hyped LAC D in the same venue.

This is a slow D that has their share of struggles but also strengths. On a normal day and vs most matchups they can play their part of complementary football - like they did today (vs big O on the road). No more no less. Asking more from them (while calling them bunch of “jags“) is quite a funny proposition ..
