I'm seeing people saying last night (Rams-Chiefs) was an awesome game. It sucked

... I can't imagine what it's like these days for defenders having their hands tied by crap rules changes. Must be frustrating as hell. All because of fantasy football.

You think the rule changes were made for fantasy football o_O
Perhaps not the announced 2004 Points of Emphasis, which were Polian-Manning driven, but the UN-announced points of emphasis throughout the 2010s have Absolutely been FFB-driven. It's really criminal how they've been allowed to manipulate the game for their own personal benefit, not unlike insider trading, during this decade.

This game reminds me off the “Flutie” game BC Miami. Everyone remembers Flutie bomb Hail Mary.... but honestly that was Luck.

The one play that gave them a chance was one stop BC had , I think the only stop BC had the whole day.

I can’t believe how off you were on this. This game is filled with defensive plays and defensive scores...

Did you watch the game or just check the score @Viper652

Defensive battle honestly
Your posts seem to have knowledge of Football or Patriot history tho
U ban me from your threads? Just curious. I’m not allowed to respond to one of your threads
Go to bed.

It's different now. Yards and scoring are way the F above years past. Don't be blind
Not denying that. But look at recent weeks. The scoring and yards are starting to go down. Teams are still making adjustments through these new rules.

Lots of plays made... When I saw the score I figured there had to be defensive TDs . Yup. Bunch of them. Also tyrik Hill... Yup. Just like against pats.. Cooks.. yup. Goff and mahomes.. yup.. exhausting..

The announcers were running out of superlatives.. football can get crazy sometimes...

The worst calls of all though are the lack of PI calls on the offense, whether it's the WR pushing off or the pick plays. There's no possible way to defend those.

If I were a potential NYFL player I'd try to play offense. It's too frustrating to play defense now.

You know what drives me nuts about that. If a player just sits down acting like he's waiting for the ball. He gets flagged for PI.

But when a player is clearly adjusting his route unnaturally to run a pick play, it's fair game. Wtf kind of ******** is that. That drives me freaking nuts!

Secondary play was my favorite part of defense. Now they can't do anything. Meh.

PI calls have nothing to do with player saftey, either. It's really just to infale Fantasy numbers.

Yesterday's game was such a joke that during the Late Hits show earlier tonight on SiriusXM's NFL channel, the Godfather himself Gil Brandt left himself open to the suggestion that the league should consider re-visiting the rule, enacted during the 1978 off-season, that forbids defenders from making contact with receivers after the first 5 yards past the LOS. Prior to 1979, defenders could make contact with receivers throughout their routes, but only so long as they placed themselves between the receivers and the end zone being defended whenever contact was made.
I obviously would be very much in favor of such a re-visitation.

The Pats lost the SB 17-14, and it took a miracle to hit 17. Their defense was very good (although aging).
I have the impression that the 2007 defense flies under the radar for many people because they allowed 2 TDs in the 4th quarter of the Super Bowl and missed a couple of plays during the Giants' final drive that could have sealed the game for the Pats, like Samuel letting an interception fly through his outstretched arms or the front seven unable to stop Jacobs from picking up the 1st on a 4th and 1.

Yet overall the D outperformed the O throughout Super Bowl XLII. After getting dragged down the field for 9 minutes by the Giants for the opening drive FG the Giants got:

Interception
Punt
Punt
Punt

for a total of 86 yards on those 4 drives (including two times the Giants were incredibly fortunate not to have turned the ball over on fumbles). That game should have been over by the time the 4th quarter arrived.

That would be great but I doubt it'll happen.

The biggest problem is receivers getting free release from the line of scrimmage and contact essentially forbidden 'til the ball arrives. Most of the time that can't be adequately defended if the QB has time to throw.

Well, that's at least partly because those are the worst announcers in the history of televised football.

The Flutie play was definitely overhyped and exaggerated ....that’s why they call them Hail Mary’s....Total LUCK!!!
