Patriots Sign WR Corey Coleman

So one receiver fumbles a punt and Bill goes nuclear.
Love it.
I wanted to see Billingsley on the field though wanted to see if he was Woodhead.

Is Fowler on our ps or 53

So, uh, where are all the people saying WR wasn’t a need in the offseason. Belichick apparently disagrees and now he’s throwing stuff at the wall to see if anything sticks.

This is the Patriot kind of move for the people wanting dez or Gordon.
Equally risky with similar upside.
Unlike dez he comes in with no demands which would lead to attitude problems and unlike Gordon if he delivers anything we don’t have to worry about disappearing one night.

Patriot risky moves are usually ones without fallout if they fail.

To say these JAGs have a similar upside to Josh Gordon is inaccurate.

This ship has sailed, but Josh Gordon is undoubtedly still Josh Gordon.

That is the only catch he made all day. 69 snaps 40 passes.

Gordon caught 1 pass Sunday. 69 snaps 40 passes only 3 targets and 1 catch.
Coleman was a top 15 draft pick.

During the offseason, Belichick thought he was going to sign Britt to an extension and go into week 1 with Britt and Edelman as two of the top WRs. Circumstances changed just a little since then.

That doesn’t change the fact that even as recent as week ago, there were quite a few posters in here insisting that WR was not a need.

I never feel great about late acquisitions at wide receiver. Even the success cases (like we hope Dorsett is trending to), take a year before we reap the rewards. But, it shouldn't take took much to be a depth piece capable of replacing McCarron, so hopefully he's got some surprises in him.

Exactly. I heard BB talk about how difficult is is for a receiver who is not in the system during spring and summer camps. Apparently he had a difficult time picking up the Buffalo offense. This seems like a move that will benefit the team in 2019 but we will see.

That contradicts what the GM of the Bills has said in an interview recently.

Despite the fact that Beane said the speedster “tried hard. He really did,” it wasn’t enough to make Coleman earn a roster spot over unproven talents like Robert Foster and Ray-Ray McCloud III.

“Where he came in to learn a new offense, he just didn’t jell. It’s one of those things you ask yourself, ‘Have we given this enough time?’ Beane said. “The talent’s there. Anybody that’s been around the practice field, you see he has a skill set. But we just never were able to make it mesh on the field with him, and it’s a production business.”

Haley is not the easiest coach to get along with. So, it would not take much to get on his chit list.

The Pats culture won't allow bad attitudes or not giving 100%. The Pats coached up Dorsett from the looks of things. Hopefully they can work their magic on another reclamation project.

Gordon in 4+ years.
11 games. 93 targets 43 receptions.
Last year and this after 2 season of no football
6 games 45 targets 19 catches.

Hopefully this version of Coleman is right

I mean his coach admitted it was a mistake he was even on the field in the first place and should have never even been out there. I wouldn’t take much stock in how he was used in that game considering how dysfunctional his team is.
His coach sent him out for 69 snaps then says he didn’t mean to?
How about how he was used last year? What is the excuse for that.
Amazing that you call HIS TEAM dysfunctional and act like it’s their fault he just chose to not show up.

Says here he got an 11. Not exactly good.

Cordarrelle Patterson's Wonderlic Test Score

There's a negative correlation between Wonderlic and NFL production, for what it's worth, i.e. lower Wonderlic score is associated with better NFL players. There's obviously confounding factors there but Wonderlics are basically meaningless.

Coleman's got a lot of talent. I thought he looked good as a rookie. Unfortunate bouts with injuries and a questionable attitude though. We'll see. Dorsett seems to be putting it together in Foxboro and Coleman was a superior prospect. Notably, he was a very good punt returner in college.
