Book claims that Brady was furious with Kraft after Deflategate.

Kraft is a supporter of a scumbag.

...yeah, and he supports Goodell, too

Yep, and more than that, to try to draw a a true parallel, Garapolo would have to be the one coming off being the league MVP while winning the job over an on the mend Brady.

Holy crap, could you imagine the discussion on here if that were the case? It might even reach as much as 40% of the Malcolm Butler thread!

that is one vague answer from BB.

Except, of course, that it's not really vague.

What’s so wrong with thinking JAG is good?

Nothing.

He sure proved he could carve up Jacksonville’s D.

JAG's play in SF showed that he has real promise, but also that he has a long way to go. There's nothing wrong with him having a long way to go, as he'd basically (Yes, I know... "Suspension!") not started in the NFL prior to that, and a learning curve is expected, but that's a far cry from being ready to lead a team to the Super Bowl, which is something that first year starters very rarely do.

The book was just recently released and includes interviews with all of the principles most notably, NFLPA reps DeMaurice Smith and Heather McPhee. As for the quote about Kraft holding a press conference accepting the punishment and moving forward, he used BB’s scheduled time and took the media by surprise including his QB who watched it from his home. That quote is from Smith at NFLPA as he was on the phone with Brady during the live PC.

That is still hearsay information.. no matter how you frame it.

Do you have the exact quote???

From what I remember, Kraft supported a different candidate through the process until it became clear that he was one of 2 or 3 holdouts not supporting Goodell. Knowing that the vote had to be unanimous and that he wasn't going to convince 28 or so other owners to change their minds, he shifted his support to Goodell.

Somehow, the narrative became that Kraft handpicked Goodell to be commissioner and then Goodell returned the favor by going easy on his team during Spygate. Both those ideas are the opposite of what actually happened, but people believe that's the real story.

Thanks for clearing that up for me.

What does this mean? I’ve seen people do this a few times after getting notified they quoted me.

Sorry, the wifi wasn't good for me where I was. I am back in the country now. I forgot what I was trying to say.

Not sure if any variation of this was posted but jeez. Brady man.......

Reports were also that Goodell was considering an 8 game suspension for Tom but settled on 4 so who knows what is true.

I think this report is the league trying to save face since most informed fans and media know the whole thing was BS.

If that's true it shows an incredible amount of integrity by Brady and makes Goodell look even worse (just when you thought it wasn't possible...).

Easy to throw a random, low-paid equipment guy or two under the bus to save your own skin, but Brady sat 4 because he knew it wasn't true.

You know who I believe would have taken that deal in five seconds? Peyton Manning. Not to throw around baseless accusations (hahaha actually I love doing that when it comes to Pink Head).

Though thanks to the contract restructure Brady actually ended up losing much less than $1mil (though of course he had to suffer through the ignonimy of the whole process).

The NFL and Goodell knew it was BS but would never walk it back after going after it so hard. I bet 90% of the current QBs would have taken that deal, that we why TB is TB.

Thank you for posting that link. I knew that Kraft had proposed another candidate for commissioner, but could never remember his name.

That's accurate, but the problem is that "informed" people are vastly outnumbered by people too ignorant or too dumb to see that the situation was BS.

When you hear stuff like this, it becomes clear it was never about getting to the truth of the matter, if someone tampered with footballs or not. According to the book, Brady offered to pay fine but Goodell would only accept that if he implicated McNally and Jastremski. If Brady didn't go for that, then he'd get punished. The possibility that nothing happened was never an option.

The league has a funny way of trying to save face. Asking Tom to throw the 2 guys under the bus is suuuuuuch a good look.

Regards,
Chris

I would expect nothing less of Brady. He has been a stand up guy his entire time in New England. He would never do something like that. It is absolutely insulting to even offer him such a deal if true.

It still would’ve implicated the NE Patriots organization as cheaters, so I don’t think it was too difficult of a decision for him. At least I hope not, anyway.

He lost some money, but I’m not sure that pointing the finger at the ball boys would have been that great of a look for him, either. I don’t know.
