I’m curious as to what the consensus is around here about him.

I tend to get a very mixed vibe as to how good of a player people think he actually is.

Slightly above average. Not sure he is a 90% + snap 3 down LB but hes a good system fit here. I have nothing against him. He is what he is. Good complimentary piece.

That’s about what I think of him. I just think he was put in a tough situation once Hightower went down.

Shouldn’t ever be your best starting LB, but is more than capable of being a solid starter.

KVN is a very good smart player. He is not a pro bowler but he if we had a few more guys like him it would be good.

Given that we use way more nickel than we used to I think that KVN and Hightower are a very good duo and more than enough if healthy. Things become scary if Hightower isn't out there though.

Which is why I still think we need more depth at LB.

Flowers is alright as a backup, but it gets pretty thin after that.

You’ll see my reply in the Malcom Butler thread.

Just kidding.

He’s a poor man’s Rob Nikovich.

Certainly not a star but very useful in the system. His flexibility is what BB might like. He can blitz, play outside LB role but I think he has some problems with the coverage what is all in all our enture defence problem. With the rest of mediocre LBs company he must be a fundamental piece of the front seven.

Van Noy is solid, not spectacular, but versatile
Not great at anything but not awful at anything either.
A good piece but not a guy who should be one of your top few players on the unit.

Solid vet with a slight injury history. Typical BB player.

There are some people on this board who say that Van Noy isn't even starter quality despite the fact that he was taking better than 75% of the snaps to start the season.

As others have mentioned. He's a Rob Ninkovich type player. He's smart. He's learning the Patriots way. And he's been productive. I can remember people crapping all over Ninkovich during the first couple of years he was here. By the time Nink was done, he was arguable one of the best DE/OLB of the Belichick Era.

We need another LB but obviously maybe bill seems something in Christian Sam. Van Noy is serviceable. We need linebackers that can run and cover in space.

A serviceable back-up at best. If he’s the starter next to Hightower come Week 1, the LB position will once again be a weakness and we should all pray for Hightower’s health. Hopefully one of the draftees is a diamond in the rough. The defense could use it.
