Wouldn't be surprised if we grabbed a WR or TE..

The Patriots have a full house of receivers. WR is loaded: Edelman, Hogan, Mitchell, Dorsett, Britt, Patterson, Matthews, Cody Hollister. I don't remember ever having so many over-6-foot veteran receivers in camp. I am really looking forward to seeing who clicks with Brady. If Britt and Matthews can figure out the offense, this team will be terrific with Edelman and Gronk doing their thing inside the numbers.

They might pick up a TE late, but they're fine for the draft. I see an undrafted FA tight end being signed.

The rest of this draft should be strictly defense.

Wynn's an offensive lineman taken in round one by BB. History tells us that, unless he gets hurt or craps himself, he's starting.

Where do you think they're slotting him then? LT? Thuney and Mason seem to be locks for the starting G positions unless they get injured in camp.

They did a good job this offseason stocking the OL cupboard for a highly competitive camp. They can use Wynn in situational ways early in the season if Waddle continues his development, and if one of those depth Tackles they picked up in free agency emerges. If Garcia is healthy and gets his strength back, they're going to have some tough choices to make at the end of camp along the offensive line.

Did Michel visit before?
He said he was shocked we took him.

Is his first name pronounced like the electronics company or is it just an odd spelling for "Sonny"?

He's a tackle until he proves otherwise.

I love the way the NFL constantly evolves in a circle. Using a first round pick on a back, used to seem kind of stupid. But guess what, thats changed. Look what Kareem Hunt and Alvin Kamara did for their teams this year.Find versatile backs like that who can do it all and they are first round worthy picks. Seems like running back might be becoming more of a premiere position than wide reciever

He will be special if he can solve his fumbling issues

Someone on Draft Twitter suggested that running backs who break tackles are going to become even more valuable because of the head-down tackling rule change and that could bring the running game closer to par with passing, so this may be Belichick exploiting a market inefficiency before it's noticeable. I can see that. I do think the running back value pendulum swung too far. I'm not sure I would have taken one 2nd overall, but at 31 it's hardly a reach.

What about all the defensive players that don't last until 43? Why not trade up to grab Evans?

? Trade up from #23 to #22 to grab Evans?

Do that and you probably miss out on Wynn and Michel.

The Super Bowl is likely an anomaly. I don’t think there was a holding call against either O-line. I think both O lines got away with a lot.

IOW, both OL were on equal footing and both pass-rushes were at an equal disadvantage.

Same difference if both OL are being flagged for holding 8 times a game. As long as it's equal, it makes zero difference to my point.

I’m not saying Barkley is going to be Alvin kamara, but I know he can be close. He can do it all. To me he was worth that pick. He’s a game changer

It also doesn't really matter. Nobody's looking for a ten-year starter at running back. How many Patriots running backs have played out multiple contracts? Kevin Faulk, that's it. James White also will. Top-tier change-of-pace guys who avoid the wear and tear. They already have that guy.

Otherwise you're looking for five years of good running back play and some other team can overpay in free agency for treadless tires at age 28. The majority of first round picks don't get a second contract with the team that drafted them. Aside from a quarterback, pass rusher, or offensive lineman, you're not really looking for a guy who will play for you for a decade with any draft pick, just a guy who can make as big an impact as possible in years 2-4, 2-5.
