Draft Rumours

Evans has never been arrested afaik, last Alabama linebacker here worked out pretty well and I think Saban knows what he's doing.

Yeah, but ...

Saban and Belichick have a lot in common in terms of defensive philosophy. However, they differ somewhat when it comes to implementations and schemes. Not every defensive player who's succeeded in Saban's implementation will necessarily fit as well in BB's schemes.

Interesting from Peter King’s mock

And fwiw, he has us taking Rashaan Evans at 23 and Vander Esch at 31. That’s one way to approach the linebacker situation.

Man I would LOVE this. Instant defense upgrade with Evans and Vander Esch, as well as the return of Hightower.

You know, that's kind of an intriguing thought. I'd love to see a Jackson / Barkley offense, and Garrett / Chubb would be a fantastic combination.

Interestingly they’ve been linked to every QB other than Rosen. Which probably means they’re taking Rosen.

That's actually among the least tempting of the scenarios that I can map out just off the top of my head. Relatively short downward trades are also in play:

for the #31 (600) ...
NYG #34 (560) + #139 (36) = 596
CHI #39 (510) + #105 (84) = 594

for the #23 (760) ...
NOL #27 (680) + #127 (45) +#147 (32) = 757

FWIW, I believe in recent years the compensation for going from the bottom of the 1st to the top of the 2nd has been an early 4th rather than an early 5th because of the loss of the fifth year.

Especially with Tyrod Taylor there, he and Jackson could run the same offense. However if they take Barkley and Chubb (no trade down) it would likely be a fairly big move up from #33 to get Jackson.

Cleveland need to go as safe as possible at QB. They cannot afford to mess it up again. Darnold and Rosen seem to have the highest floors (can’t speak for Mayfield because I haven’t done any serious work on him).

Here's Lombardi a little bit on Pats draft. Nice nuggets on demarcation line (this year he sees it even higher than most - around #14) and about questions of trading (up or down) two 5-year starter contracts..

On WRs: “First draft I was w BB he went straight to WR board and said get all those guys the hell out of there..“

The official visits of top WRs more “getting to know your opponent“ category..

More and more I think they’re going OL with the 1st pick unless their guy isn’t there then they trade down and take bpa on D with 31.

If we're going O-Line i am hoping we go guard rather than OT, mainly because Shaq Mason is going to command $$

And here Lombardi has Lamar as #1 QB . tasty listen as usual
(+ little speculation on possible pats LJ pick and transition to new O)

I just started a post saying they might wait for a Brian O’Neill or Brandon Parker and have a genuine camp battle between whichever rookie/Garcia/Waddle but as soon as I wrote it I started changing my mind again and went back to Connor Williams or Kolton Miller make too much sense. Must.Stop.Overthinking! And enjoy the process.
