With just over a week to go, these will probably heat up now so worth a thread. And if Daniel Jeremiah and Bucky Brooks are right, next Thursday could be a hell of a night.

Seeing a bit of Josh Rosen to Patriots conjecture on my timeline today. This might be why:

    Also from the same article:

    1. Colt looking to trade back again
    2. Courtland Sutton could be first WR off the board
    3. Chargers looking at QB in round 2
    4. And others

Even though I came late to the party and haven’t studied the prospects anywhere near as much as I have done previously, I’m really excited for this draft both for the Patriots (4 pickS in the first two rounds) but for the draft generally with those four QBs.

I’ve been thinking of scenarios where B.B. could disappoint us and I’m struggling to see the. Trading up for an OT is one. Taking Rudolph in the first would be another. A first found WR. Does anyone else have potentially disappointing ways B.B. could go?

Even a first found RB wouldn’t disappointment me because of the quality there is available. Guice or Michel at 31 would be absolutely fine for me.

Hot take: Rudolph is better than Rosen, Allen, and Jackson. If I'm right, would you mind him at 31?

I kind of abandon all hope when it comes to the Patriots drafting, actually. Imagining the fits of all these prospects is very fun and helps the off-season speed by, but when the pats are on the clock, they use their own draft board. It works out more than not and it's almost always not the guys I wanted. It's still very painful to see guys ranked much later get selected, and the misses really hurt, such as Jordan Richards in the 2, but ultimately Bill has found a good amount of contributors.

We’ve all been traumatised by Tavon Wilson and Jordan Richards. But BB’s unique drafting style also gave us Duron Harmon so not a complete loss. My reasoning is, however, that with 4 pickS in the top 64, at least one will get us excited. Right? (said imploringly).

Oh, undoubtedly he knows these guys so much better. Not just Harmon, but many others. Even way back with Seymour, a lot of people wanted Terrell. He's got a pretty good track record despite a few misses.

Given that BB's "hit rate" is fairly comparable to the hit rates of teams whose average starting draft position has been 10-15+ spots higher over the same span of years, I'd say that he's doing okay. Those teams may end up acquiring a few more "superstars", but they also end up in pretty much the same draft position relative to the Pats in most years.

There are 4 ways Bill could disappoint me in the 1st.

    1. Reach for an OT
    2.Take a RB
    3. Trade up for Mayfield/Allen
    4.Reach for a TE

Players I would like to see in the 1st round: Josh Rosen, Lamar Jackson, Roquan Smith, LVE, Maurice Hurst (medical permitting), Jaire Alexander, Harold Landry, Mike Hughes, Calvin Ridley.

My ideal scenario is Josh Rosen slipping to 8-10 range and we can swoop in with a trade up to get the best QB in the draft and our future franchise QB.Would happily trade both 1sts if needed. That would still leave us with 2 2nds to strengthen the D.

I'm highly unlikely to be cheering or cursing any move BB makes in the draft. But I guarantee I'll be fascinated by all of them.

    This is the telling quote:

“If there was a consensus John had come to, he would’ve told me,” Jackson said, via Cleveland.com. “That’s not the case. … When John Dorsey goes dark, he goes dark.”

IOW, Dorsey is "the consensus", and the freakin' Head Coach is being kept totally out of the loop.

So, Jackson is telling the truth. As far as he knows, everyone is in play.
