Rumor: Pats interested in Josh Rosen?

I just looked up the deal for wentz. It’s so convolluted I don’t really understand it.

Tom Brady has proven that statement to be false. Good mechanics DOES improve arm strength

I believe that to be somewhat true to an extent, HOWEVER in the post season fun QB challenges, newbie Brady was the guy who won the long throw QB contests.

I’d take
23+31 to get to 9 and take Lamer Jackson
Over

23+31 and both 2nds yo get to Rosen

I Can't see us trading up. I think there's maybe one or two players that BB would trade up for and one of those is Bradley Chubb..

We got so many needs this year, so can see us just using our picks really!

Which QB do you prefer?
None that require trading up.
i wouldn’t take Jackson in the 3rd tbh
I’d rather not use any of our top 3 picks at QB.

Great analysis on Jackson. The Pats would have to change their whole offense to accommodate Jackson's skill set. Could he be Mike Vick II? Vick was exciting and created wins but he also got pounded.
In this day and age, Safeties are 6'3" and 225lbs. Jackson is like...208lbs? How long will that last. As inaccurate as he is you would have to have a top running game to keep the other Team honest. The Pats are not built for ground and pound.

I don't want to use the word Tim Tebow II but stat wise, Tebow was a much better college QB and Drafted in the first round by.....................Josh! Tebow was a 66% completion guy and Jackson is 57%. Jackson had almost twice the INT's as Tebow.
Think Josh will take a swing at Jackson knowing he might inherit him as his QB? Nyet! As I recall, Tebow was a grerat running QB as well.

<60% in ncaa is horrible. Especially for a guy who can escape instead of throwing it away. Especially for a guy who faces some weak competition every season.

He is. However, if he is Belichick's man, the 23 will allow us to get him and not affect the rest of draft. Instead of drafting a QB later, we basically use that pick to move up in the first.

Sure

It makes moving up a small amount very palatable.

Yes, it really is. It's not as if previous QBs came in, propped their feet up on the QB table, and said "See you in 4 years, maybe".

Previous QBs had pretty much zero shot of actually becoming the starting QB though. Brady is 41 now. That decline can happen at any time.

Any QB drafted this year has pretty much zero shot of actually becoming the starting QB. That line forms behind Brady now, just as it did for the years JAG was riding the pine, and all the years from 2001 until then. Now, if you want to talk about future years, and guess as to when Brady hangs it up or becomes sufficiently incompetent as to be unable to hold off those future challenges, that's fine, but it's a different issue than someone actually giving Brady competition for the #1 spot this year (Note that poster specifically stated "as a rookie").

Well I never said the rookie would BEAT Brady either. I said he would push him. As in compete with him. I agree that the starting job is Brady's without a shadow of a doubt until he declines noticeably and loses it. The issue with that, from where we sit today, is said noticeable decline could literally happen any year, month, week, or day now. The guy is 41 years old.

Ok, but that's the same argument that was used about JAG. The only difference is the age number.

I would not trade up for a QB. With the draft capitol we have now, we can replace our FA losses at OT and CB. If we were to jump up, I'd rather it be for help at LB. The kid from UGA has it all. Like his instincts amongst other things.

We could also invest in two linebackers early. Maybe something like OT, LB, LB, CB.

I think its pretty nonsensical to trade building blocks for a win now team, with the best QB ever coming off a MVP season, to draft a backup. We need to replenish the defense, so that when Brady throws for SB records our defense will have done its job as well.

Given the way they’ve been working out quarterbacks, I think it’s a near certainty that they’re looking to draft one. The only question is where.

A possible double dip could be in the cards too...one of day 2 the other on day 3.

I'm with you. Drafting a QB works for me.

Trading multiple early picks to draft a guy in the top five doesn't make much sense though.

We were a defense away from winning a sixth. Brady was magnificent as always. He's showing no signs of slowing down. Disregarding that and trading assets to get a guy would be a big whiff for me.
