Rumor: Pats interested in Josh Rosen?

If he doesn't continue to be a turnover machine and takes football more seriously. Those are two "if's" that I'd rather not explore, though. I'd much rather have Mayfield. I think he'd thrive in this system and he's one of the only QBs in this draft that I've seen CONSISTENTLY use his eyes to move safeties at the college level. He'd also want to come in and immediately push Brady for the starting job instead of simply being content to sit and learn behind him.

Immediately push the GOAT QB? As a rookie? Come on, man. That's just silly.

No, it really isn't. Competition is competition and Mayfield would come in and compete for that starting job immediately whereas other back-ups in the past may have come in content to sit on the bench and learn behind Brady.

He may be. But he's clearly looked at as at least a step below the top 4. He's tier 2 in this draft.

He is. However, if he is Belichick's man, the 23 will allow us to get him and not affect the rest of draft. Instead of drafting a QB later, we basically use that pick to move up in the first.

I think the Rosen thing is subterfuge

So you think that Belichick is driving up the price for moving into the top 5?

I suppose if we were interested in trading up for a non-quarterback this might make sense. IN that case, it would help us for 4 QB's to be drafted in the top 5.

Pats working out mason rudolph

I said the same thing a few days ago I was laughed out the building.
Great minds think alike.

Yes a mob mentality exists. I just can't see the Pats wasting all that Draft equity to move up for a bench warmer for a few years.

Here is the quiz;

Do we help Tom Brady to win now?

Is it probabale that TB does at least two years?

Do we maneuver the Draft to take a QB who may or may not be ready to lead this Team in a few years and waste an opportunity to have a Chandler Jones/Hightower type Draft?

Here is the equation:
Will a top O lineman, purge our Defense of slow LBs and boost a pass rush that can't get to the QB be better for the Team in 2018 throiugh smart Draft picks?

Will a top flight TE who can give Gronk a few plays off yet NOT spiral down to nothing as far as Offensive production be better served than a clip board holder?

As BB loves to do with reclamations, is there a QB out there that has been thrown on the garbage heap that was a first round talent, has a big arm and has actually played downs in the NFL and won that can be had for minimal capital?

The Draft is a crap shoot, we all agree with that. For every Wentz there is a Matt Leinart or Vince Young. Do we swap three high Draft picks to reach a QB, or maybe look for a QB who maybe becomes Steve Young to Montana? Wait........ Young WAS NOT DRAFTED by the Niners! He was a trade who was thought a bust by Tampa.

signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985. The team posted 2–14 records in his two seasons with them, going 3–16 with him as a starter. Young threw for only 11 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing fewer than 55% of his passes. In spite of this San Francisco 49ers coach Bill Walsh was impressed by Young's natural abilities and felt that his problems were due to the struggling Bucs organization.

Does this sound like a plausible story for Paxton Lynch? First of all will they Trade him? I think Elway would.

Would he cost less than three top Draft picks? Seems like he would.

Steve Young sat and watched and learned from Montana and a brilliant offense mind in Walsh. Can't Lynch who has the exact same stats as Rosen (top 5 QB) sit and learn from Brady and Josh?
Lynch is only 24 years old. More accurate than Jackson. Better arm than Lauletta. More consistent in college than Josh Allen.

Now we can mold Lynch who actually has won in the League just like we would a Rosen or Mayfield. How many first round QB's have freeked out when they played in the NFL for the first time? These are kids. Then give me a touch of experience.

Brady's 41. His decline could happen at literally any time. They have a retread in Hoyer right now, but they still need to be looking for their QBOTF.

True but that is the type of Brady mentality that I want in a QB.

I think how long Brady will be here will depend in large part on what QB Bill takes in the draft. If somehow the pats end up with Rosen or Mayfield, it may be Brady’s last year in NE. If it’s a developmental QB like Rudolph or Lauletta, you might see Brady here for a few more years. But I don’t think Bill is going to keep Brady around until he’s 45. That’s just my 2 cents.

That’s close to what I think they are doing. Here’s my theory. No one is sure what bill will do so they are watching. He sends his horses off in a direction that creates an impression that he’s thinking about Rosen, rudolph, Jackson etc. now, some will believe he’s going to draft a high 1st round line backer or defensive end so they make counter moves. All the while he has no intention of getting any of those guys but makes other teams get them.. then drafts guys no ones ever heard of and beats the hell out of teams who drafted the other ones. OR just gets a bunch of special teamers

This is what ive been thinking. After watching BB draft for the past 19 seasons it seems pretty far fetched that he would spend almost all his draft capital to move up high enough to draft rosen, thats not how he builds a team. He has never drafted a qb in the first rnd brady in the sixth, jimmy g in the 2nd, and jacoby brisset in the third. So why would he change now.

You adapt or die.
BB knows that things change fluidly in the NFL.
I think we are doing our due dilligence on the QBs which is the right move will Bill see Rudolph or Rosen as being a better starter than Lauletta or White he might or he may not think its worth the risk.
Get your popcorn ready!

Bb has been able to get qbs without taking one in the first rnd, this team has a lot of holes to fill. To move up in the draft to be able to take one of the top qbs he'd probably have to give up both 1sts, seconds, and maybe thirds. Like someone says 'he's building a team not collecting talent' he can get a qb in the second or third rnd...maybe even the sixth.

Thats a strong possibility but if he can uncover a franchise QB he will go up for it.
They dont come along all the time.
If he has them rated close to the same lets say the grade and ceiling on Lauletta is close to Rosen he wont give up the farm.
But if he has Rosen or Rudolph rated significantly higher I dont feel parting with Brandin Cooks and a 1st is a dealbreaker if you look at it that way as opposed to giving up Multiple 1sts.

As I said we can enjoy our popcorn and watch it all unfold.

I would do whateva it takes to get that second pick and get Rosen.
