Yes a mob mentality exists. I just can't see the Pats wasting all that Draft equity to move up for a bench warmer for a few years.
Here is the quiz;
Do we help Tom Brady to win now?
Is it probabale that TB does at least two years?
Do we maneuver the Draft to take a QB who may or may not be ready to lead this Team in a few years and waste an opportunity to have a Chandler Jones/Hightower type Draft?
Here is the equation:
Will a top O lineman, purge our Defense of slow LBs and boost a pass rush that can't get to the QB be better for the Team in 2018 throiugh smart Draft picks?
Will a top flight TE who can give Gronk a few plays off yet NOT spiral down to nothing as far as Offensive production be better served than a clip board holder?
As BB loves to do with reclamations, is there a QB out there that has been thrown on the garbage heap that was a first round talent, has a big arm and has actually played downs in the NFL and won that can be had for minimal capital?
The Draft is a crap shoot, we all agree with that.For every Wentz there is a Matt Leinart or Vince Young. Do we swap three high Draft picks to reach a QB, or maybe look for a QB who maybe becomes Steve Young to Montana? Wait........ Young WAS NOT DRAFTED by the Niners! He was a trade who was thought a bust by Tampa.
signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1985. The team posted 2–14 records in his two seasons with them, going 3–16 with him as a starter. Young threw for only 11 touchdowns with 21 interceptions while completing fewer than 55% of his passes. In spite of this San Francisco 49ers coach Bill Walsh was impressed by Young's natural abilities and felt that his problems were due to the struggling Bucs organization.
Does this sound like a plausible story for Paxton Lynch? First of all will they Trade him? I think Elway would.
Would he cost less than three top Draft picks? Seems like he would.
Steve Young sat and watched and learned from Montana and a brilliant offense mind in Walsh. Can't Lynch who has the exact same stats as Rosen (top 5 QB) sit and learn from Brady and Josh?
Lynch is only 24 years old. More accurate than Jackson. Better arm than Lauletta. More consistent in college than Josh Allen.
Now we can mold Lynch who actually has won in the League just like we would a Rosen or Mayfield. How many first round QB's have freeked out when they played in the NFL for the first time? These are kids. Then give me a touch of experience.
