Rumor: Pats interested in Josh Rosen?

Ridiculous Thread the only QB is slated to be on the Board when we pick and that's a maybe is Mason Rudolf. Josh Rosen is Top Ten talent unless we plan on Trading both Firsts even that might not be enough.

No kidding about Josh Rosen not being available at 23 (in other news the sky is blue). The whole point of the thread is to suggest that pats may trade up for Rosen or similar QB. You may not like the idea of the pats trading up, but the rumor is out there.

Like at the start of FA Patriots in the mix for every available Free Agent.

I think BB will be targeting a QB with now having 2 1st rounders. Lamar Jackson could be the guy. I really like Rudolph but his arm strength is questionable. He's very accurate and his stats are off the charts but if he could zing it and have accuracy down the field he'd be a high 1st rounder. A lot of his deep throws were to wide open receivers (like James Washington) that had no problem getting by the defense. We shall see in a couple of weeks.

I think the Pats should draft Nick Stevens because that's Fitzy's real name!!!

Please god, no..... I don't even want a QB until the 3rd at earliest...and I think the Richmond kid will be there late in the 3rd....

Number 23 and the second rounder which is 43 I believe and the first in 2019 and a second rounder. That would do it but idk if bill would do that.

If you're going to spend all that, you'd be better off spending whatever additional it would take to get the #1 overall in order to be certain to get YOUR guy.

I really don't think BB would blow that much draft capital to trade up even for Brady himself.

It would just be sacrificing the 2019 draft. If you can pick a year it would be this year. Brady's turning 41. I think rosen's a good QB. Best pocket passer in my mind in this draft.

The number of successful NFL quarterbacks drafted beyond the 1st round is pretty small. Yes, sometimes you get lucky. Sometimes you win the lottery. But most of the time you end up with Rohan Davey or Kevin O'Connell.

With the lottery concept in mind perhaps they take the lower risk volume approach, Lauletta and Riley Ferguson in a steel cage death match?

Cleveland #1 - QB
NYG #2 - QB
NYJ #3 - QB
Cleveland #4 - Non-QB
Denver #5 - QB

In order to get one of the top 4 QBs, the Patriots will probably have to trade with Cleveland at #4, and they would only be in position to get that scraps player of the group. That doesn't seem like a BB move.

There are five top-tier QBs. Lamar Jackson is likely to be the fifth drafted, but there's another group of teams in the teens (Chargers, Cardinals) who will likely be looking hard at him. They might be able to get Jackson if they really want him, but it's still probably going to take a pretty serious offer to leapfrog one of those teams. I also don't think it's inevitable that Denver takes a quarterback.

Unless he thinks one of those his can be a franchise QB. Brady will be 41. Idk about you but if I can have a guy for the next 14 to 15 years i would make that move. It depends if belichick believes that QB can be a franchise QB. It's likely that darnold will go number 1. Idk what the giants will do but they might take Barkley. I know the jests will take a QB but who?

I wouldn't make the move unless it's for Rosen. I am still not high on mayfield or Josh Allen.

Plus don't forget that Buffalo is looking to trade into the top five, and they have the picks to do it.

This is a likely scenario. Another has NYG drafting Chubb and someone trading with CLE for a QB (maybe the patriots).

I agree that if Belichick really has someone in mind, he might be trading for the #2, using an additional pick.

I feel the giants will take Barkley. Idk why but something tells me they will.

Jackson is not a tier 1 QB, in terms of consensus draft expectations, which is what discussion of draft maneuvering is all about.

Which of the following is the one you think is applicable here, in BB's eyes. In a quick moment, I don't see a 3rd reason to trade up to #4:

  1. There are at least 4 legitimate franchise QBs in this draft, all worthy of being taken in the top 4
  2. In a mix of franchise and non franchise QBs at the top, at least one of the teams picking 1-3 will guess wrong
