One of my all time highest grades ever for a draft prospect. I thought he would be a hall of famer. Unfortunately, he has some very real mental health issues. I hope for his sake, and his family's sake, that he's one day able to overcome them, but I just don't see how any team could ever give him the chance to play football again, even if he isn't banned for life after his latest infraction.
CTE?

Sure, kick the tires.

However, I suspect that Kenner is no better than Bolden.

The reality is that our RB's now are Gillislie, White and Bolden. And yes, we want to have two upgrades, and one to Bolden to STO, as he has been for years.

One of our RB's is likely to be a draftee.
Da Burkmeister will be back.

If Bill were at all interested in Zenner, he would not have re-signed Bolden so quickly.

I really don't see how the one thing has anything to do with the other. They don't necessarily duplicate each other, and, even if it's close, another special teamer who can fill in at RB if necessary isn't inherently a bad thing, is it?

You mean besides cap savings?

Not enough savings there to warrant arbitrarily getting rid of a more than adequate #4 RB who has NFL experience. If they get someone as good under contract for less money, or someone better for the same money, then sure. But that person doesn't exist yet.

Depends on the price.

Depends on the price.

Zenner's 2017 salary was $527k, and the Lions declined his RFA tender (which would've been $1.9M at the lowest tender level). My guess is that the Pats could sign him for about $1.5M - $2M total on a 2-year deal, without much guaranteed money up front (+/- $150k). IOW, roughly the same as Bolden is getting.

So, it's a "so what if he doesn't make the 53?" type thing He'd be cheap competition for the off-season, and a potential 2018 P-squadder - basically another UDFA, but with NFL experience.

Here's something that could be nothing, but could be huge:

Marcus Peters won’t be the only cornerback joining the Rams this year.

The team announced on Thursday that former Packers corner Sam Shields has signed with the team as a free agent. Shields recently visited with the Rams and also met with the Browns in an effort to resume his playing career.

Rams sign Sam Shields

If (and that little word is the key) the Rams can get 100% Marcus Peters and 100% Sam Shields, that will be one hell of a CB pairing.

My NT fatty target has resigned with Oakland. Oh well.

Now official

So with the recent updates -
Shelton is a Patriot.
Sherman is a 49er..
Talib is a Ram..

“Here is one sleeper free agent I am keeping an eye on for the Patriots: Titans off-the-line linebacker Avery Williamson (6-foot-1, 246 pounds). He’s the right age (26), has been durable and productive, runs well, is considered a high-character leader and would fill arguably the team’s biggest need, even though he is viewed by some as being a bit better against the run than the pass. It would be a surprise if the Patriots make a big splash in free agency, but if they can land a player such as Williamson or former Saints safety Kenny Vaccaro, I think it could really help them.”

Avery Williamson

Picking late, Patriots look elsewhere for elite traits -- such as Danny Shelton deal

It would be nice if Williamson was the next shoe to drop, but I'm somewhat doubtful that he'll be affordable.

It seems a bit more likely to me that the Pats sign a cheaper stopgap like Bradham or even Casillas, and then go for an LB of the future at #31 or #43.

They took him off the field on passing downs. I'd pass.
