Lane Johnson says Pats are no fun and run by fear

I'd be surprised if he heard that from Long. He's always said he enjoyed his time here, that BB was always honest with him and he left simply because he felt he'd play more in a different system and BB agreed with him. I don't have any evidence that anyone told Johnson anything which would have caused him to say what he did. In the absence of any evidence I'll assume he simply expressed what he thinks is the case or that he just made it up. Either way, I don't care. Before this SB, I'd never heard of Lane Johnson. I'm guessing I'll never hear much about him going forward.

He's been one of the best RTs in the NFL since he was drafted in 2013. I think this reflects more on the attention paid to offensive lineman around the NFL rather than how relevant Lane Johnson is/isn't.

I don't see why the two are mutually exclusive. Wouldn't you have more fun at a job that uses you the way you want to be used? I'm a software engineer, but I'm on a boring statistical project, and here I am on Patsfans because it's not fun to do my job.

That makes sense to me. Based on your analogy that implies Long played out of fear for not doing the job assigned to him as opposed to an aspect of the job he enjoyed

I'm sure he's a nice player, but I simply don't care. If he was a practice squad player or if he was a 5 consecutive year All-Pro, I wouldn't think any differently about his opinion. He's certainly entitled to it, but I just think it's an idiotic one. Evidently, so does Tedy Bruschi.

Long is a smart guy. His father is in the media. You know all this…
I’m sure he knows what to say publicly and what to say privately. This whole donating of the salary thing is gracious and wonderful. But for a guy who’s earned close to $90 million in his career, he donated $1 million. I don’t mean to make it seem like it’s nothing, but “donating ones entire annual salary“ though accurate, should be taken in context.

My point is, he is a savvy guy and I would never expect him to say anything negative about the patriots publicly. I think just the fact that he left willingly at the first opportunity, says it all.

I think the Eagles are built for the long haul. They play in football’s best division and will be tested throughout the season.
Having said that, they have supplanted Baltimore as my most hated non-NYJ team.
