Thomase making stuff up again?

One of the best plot twists that I can think of. I was a kid when I saw that movie the first time and I hopped up out of my seat and screamed “whoa!” after he turned around and shot Vincennes in the chest.

Shocked me, too. Saw that movie twice in the theater, and I've done that with very few movies. A masterpiece and a top 5-10 of the 90s for me.

Sort of weird vibe, similar to a mob movie, where you somehow end up rooting for some questionable actions of flawed people, mainly Crowe's character.

The Departed's elevator scene was similar, where you really don't quite see it coming.

Just to clarify here. I feel it’s important. Tomase made a claim that 100% of NFL players are taking PED’s. Fauria goes on a rant, gets him to step into the studio and starts to call him on his ****. Fauria proceeds to name off players and asks if they are doing PED’s. He basically named the Pats OL starting with Andrews, then Thuney, to which Tomase says yes. That is a bit different than Tomase just coming out with an article directly claiming that 5 particular Patriots are taking PED’s. I still think John is absolute trash, a vile human being, and anyone who employs him needs to be kicked in the nuts.

That, to me, is one of the stories underpinning this portion of the Patriots run. The yawning disconnect between consumers who follow the team for enjoyment and people paid to talk and/or write about the team who are bored with the winning, sick of the deifying and exhausted with a perpetually persecuted fanbase.

It’s not as much New England vs. Everybody anymore. It’s New England and Vikings Fans vs. Everybody (including swaths of the New England media).

NO. He made a choice to run a story he knew was not corroborated because it suited his career. If it pans out he wins. It was a bet, a gamble, it was done with full knowledge that there was no corroboration. The one thing it was not was a mistake, it was a calculated choice. I want to figuratively smack the WEEI apologists who call it a mistake.

The thing that bothers me the most about him is that he STILL does believe that the Pats taped the Rams.. and his apology is simply that he did not verify his sources properly (I.e. he really did NOT have the goods)

His story was really a "he said/she said" story entirely, and the fact that he still thinks it happened bugs the crap out of me.

I hear ya man. I’m irritated that I even had to spend the time listening to him try to defend himself to Fauria. When podcasts and streaming radio first started getting big, I was so damn excited. As a Pats fan in Cali, I finally had access to unlimited Patriots talk....all day....everyday. It only took a few days for me to realize that there is something seriously wrong with the New England sports media. They hate Patriots nation more than the rest of the nation. If I wanted to hear people argue all damn day about different views, I’d tune in to ESPN. Give me a damn homer to listen to every once in awhile. Journalism is dead. All that is left is entertainment. And I do not find those stiffs entertaining.

Apparently Thomase called out 5 Patriot players by name as taking PEDs. Never even claimed to have any proof other than he's been in the locker room. Of course, he also says he hasn't been in the locker room for 8 years because he's not welcome there (I wonder why?).

How the hell does this guy stay employed? He's a lying, plagiarizing scum bag. Why would any media company want to attach their name to his?

I can't help but think that Thomase hates jocks, and football in particular. Just IMHO, but he looks like the kind of guy that guys like Fauria stuffed into lockers in high school, and he's finally got a chance to get back at them. He always waits until the spotlight is biggest and brightest to tear them down. I could be way wrong, and I don't know the man beyond his public persona in the media. Just a gut feeling.

That's useful context, but doesn't excuse it or mitigate it in any way, IMO.

The bottom line is that he's both a libelist and a plagerist, and shouldn't be working in a journalistic capacity anywhere, let alone in this market.
