So, the first paragraph of this thread is not so positive. It’s a possibility the Pats play on Sunday with an ineffective Tom Brady, or no Tom Brady at all, or the usual Tom Brady, only time will tell. If it’s without Tom, Belichick will be attacked all offseason for trading JG (not that Belichick gives a rat’s ass).

On to the positive parts.

1) Belichick is the greatest coach of all time, hands down. I believe he can have this team win this game, EVEN if Hoyer plays parts or all of the game. That would add even more to his legacy. With all of the injuries this team had this year, and the turnover, I’ve already compared it to 2008 without Brady, but this would be his best coaching job ever. You can’t count Belichick out, EVER.

2) Hoyer, if forced to play, has the best weapons he’s ever had on any team he’s ever played for. The weapons are just amazing. He has a strong arm, and he can scramble. I think he could be coached up to win a game like this. If I remember correctly, the last time he had extensive playing time, might’ve been on Houston, he had 19 TDs and 7 ints. That’s a really solid ratio.

3) Team Defense - The defense could help this team win. Over the last 13 weeks, no team has given up less points than the Pats. Even the vaunted Jaguars D. This defense is gelling at the right time. 8 sacks last week, 5 of them coming from guys who weren’t on the team last year. 3 sacks coming from rookies. Everyone keeps talking about how Jacksonville attacks like crazy and are hungry. This is a no-name defense that probably feels disrespected, they too attack like crazy and are hungry. They probably are sick of hearing about that Jacksonville defense. I know if I was on the Pat’s D, I would be.

4) Jacksonville - I have a lot of respect for that team, they really have come around this year. Defense looks good, they have a great running game. Just a very solid overall team. That being said, this is a 10-6 team that was 3-13 last year. No disrespect meant, but I feel they really are being overrated by the media, and believe it or not, the Pats are being underrated. Jacksonville’s D is being talked about like the 2000 Ravens or the Seahawk’s Legion of Boom. Yet they gave up 42 to the Steelers and 44 to the Niners recently. They lost to the Bills and the Titans (twice) and the Niners. I just think they are being overrated. Especially their D. But they are very well coached and are a good team. No offense meant.

I’m just excited about the Pats being in ANOTHER AFCCG. I’m tired about the doom and gloom (some of it brought about by yours truly). It’s gonna be an exciting, great game !

GO PATS !!

Let’s see..... we are playing a team that has the NFL’s best defense.

That same defense gave up 40+ points in two of their last three games.

They are not the 76 Steelers or 85 Bears.

Their best running back is a bruiser with a bad ankle. The Patriots have always done well against power backs.

You get a lead on Blake Bortles & watch him
Make puddles from peeing himself.

Hopefully. I see it as pretty much a similar gameplan as last week. Bortles will be quick to run. Big game needed from marquis flowers.

Why are some threads and comments deleted and others stay? The rules here are confusing.

1. Your thread on Gipson wasn't deleted. It was merged with the practice thread, where it belonged.

2. Commenting about mod practice on a thread is inappropriate... kind of thread-jacking. If you have a question, message Ian or a mod, and they'll answer.

3. Ummmm...

:)

...we now return you to the thread in progress... oh, and by the way...

The point spread is now 7 1/2.

as long as the vikings win, im happy.

the eagles are the only team left that i hate.

best case pats win it all

anything else should be fun

ok, thanks

imo, some topics need their own threads since the points being made may get buried. also, who practiced and who didn’t appears to be what that thread is for, while i was looking for conversation or opinion on more than just who practiced. so, i don’t really agree that it “belongs” in a certain thread if the intent is to bring what may be a good discussion regarding gipson’s health and how that trickles down to how they deal with gronk and the rb coverage.

i just think it’s a deeper
discussion based on gipson being their best back end guy. barry church is sort of a
hack, imo, and a tackle
collector with not much to offer in coverage. he used to get torched repeatedly in dallas.

Lewis, Burkhead, White, and even Bolden. What's the play? Run? Pass? Back stays in to protect? All four can do all three jobs.

I hope to see a lot of Cooks and Dorsett - just for the speed. Like they did with Denver - force the secondary to focus on them and make the linebackers try to cover Gronk and the backs. Use that to open the run game even more.

it really is the thing..been looking for this for years and years...the fact that mcdaniels can sub the rbs...it has always been a huge flaw and a tell in the past, where they sub the rbs on and off to run either a pass play or run ay, where mcdaniels or o’brien did not have a good day at the office, and voila, the pats would lose over it.

i also love how they carry a pure fb like develin who they will throw to....great stuff and long overdue.

i would imagine burkhead is frothing at the mouth at this point. i feel bad for gillislee, but bb was hellbent on making sure he could get it once and for all. burkhead simply beat him out with that skill set, especially being the better pass catcher.

Not when we win with hoyer.

I think we are still a slightly better team than Jax with hoyer at QB

Defenses are equal.
QB would be slightly edge to hoyer
Rest of offense edge to pats

Patriotsdefense can easily dominate this game.

You don’t gave to say you respect them. I don’t. They are a decent team but not at the level of a Sb team.

I’m just excited about the Pats being in ANOTHER AFCCG. I’m tired about the doom and gloom (some of it brought about by yours truly). It’s gonna be an exciting, great game ! GO PATS !!
There is nothing to be gloomy about. We are a much superior team. Brady will be fine. We will roll.

That is an ill informed incorrect understanding of what has happened.

Lewis actually took away gillislee job. Burkhead backs up both Lewis and white and has a package designed for him that gets used occassionally.

Gronk's Showtime comedy special is on and he just dropped an f bomb.

He claims fans constantly ask him to **** their wives.
