There is a lot of talk about Jacksonville’s pass rush being a big issue in the afccg.
They had 55 sacks which looks impressive but over 1/3 of them came in 2 games, 10 each against Indy and houston. They also had 5 each against the jets and browns.
Other than these 4 games against th me worst offenses in the league they had just 25 sacks in 12 games.
It should be noted also that inbthe secund meeting with Indy and Houston the 10 each dropped to 4, which were their 5th and 6rh highest totals, leaving them with 10 games that weren’t against Indy, houston, the jets or browns where they totalled 17 sacks, which is actually a weak pass rush.
Additionally they had 35 of their 55 sacks in the first half of the season and only 20 in the second half.
Finally against houston, Indy, the jets and browns they allowed 9 ppg and against everyone else they allowed 21.4 ppg.
In games they had 2 or fewer sacks which was half of their games, they allowed 21.5.
Is the success of their defense overly related to a handful of games against terrible teams and QBs? Is the patriot scheme and Brady, making them better at protection than the colts, Texans, browns and jets the equalizer?
I think this is going to be a spread them out throw the ball, run no huddle ( jags are not deep at all and do not rotate) gameplan.
Thoughts?
