Jags @ Steelers Game Thread

Defensively, there is no question they will lock down the Steelers and beat Ben up in the pocket.

I didn't see the game but if the Jags defense is so good, how'd Garoppolo and the 49ers hang 44 on them? That's a shatload of points. Did the not play their starters?

My thoughts exactly. And when was this video taken? He's not with his team in Pittsburgh the week before a playoff game getting treatment? Strange.
No. He was off on his own supposedly getting treatment around the clock, at least according to the local media and all of his social media updates. The video was definitely taken last week, though. He was actually working out with Chad Ochocinco.

That’s what divas do, particularly under a coach like Tomlin. Brown gets to make up his own rules.

I live here so I've watched all of them. That team never got off the plane. They were also forced into bad situations when Bortles turned the ball over 3 times. They were sloppy and it's not a game to judge them on just as the Pats games in the first four weeks are not the games to judge that unit on.

Defensively, there is no question they will lock down the Steelers and beat Ben up in the pocket. Offensively, they're going to have to hope that Bortles doesn't turtle like he did last week. He was clearly afraid of even trying to make some throws and instead settled for making plays with his legs. That won't work against the Steelers.
They don’t have much of an offense, do they? Even last time they still only had around 210-220 yards of total offense when Fournette broke off that late 4th quarter run in garbage time. Last week they had another similar showing.

My personal hope is that they at least knock the Steelers around a bit, because I think they’re a joke who is going to lose by double digits. Obviously, hope that isn’t true. Nothing I’d like more than to see Pittsburgh lose at home after talking about our “two part” series for the past 6 weeks.

Actually the forecast isn’t for ice cold, just seasonally cold which is around 30 degrees

Nothing like our last game where the temp was 12 degrees

Erm, no.

EDIT: It appears you are talking about Foxboro. I don't think the Jags will be there.

If the Jags get a defensive touchdown like a 'Fumble And Return Touchdown' (FART) or a 'Touchdown And INTerception' (TAINT, also known as a pick-six) then their chances of winning are gonna go way up

Just one think I'd like to cut loose on in your acronyms.

'Touchdown And INTerception' = Touchdown After INTerception

Just offering a minor suggestion and not looking for any blowback.

I was sure that when you were going to "Cut Loose" on one of the Acronym's it would be the FART one

Much better. The bathroom humor acronym committee approves the change!

I just wish that Bortles didn't stink.

No you don't. Not if you're a Pats' fan. With a good QB, Jax would probably be heading to the SB this year. That defense is for real.

A win is a win.

Since 2001, I'm 221-66 when predicting NE games (regular + postseason) in which Brady is the starter.

That's pretty f&cking good.

Brilliant. No, really, well-played.

That is another reason they could win. One mistake by Ben and that week 5 game is back in his head and it snowballs.

Know what else will be in Pitt's heads? The realization that they have to come to New England, and NE is always in their heads.

Remember a couple of years ago when Demarius Thomas said a lot of the Broncos just didn't want to come to New England? I put the Steelers in the same emotional category.

By the way, a Coughlin team, Jacksonville, ain't afraid of anything, ever. if they somehow get by Pittsburgh, New England will be in for a dog fight (which Brady will win, as against Seattle).

There is a BIG gap between "Bortles" and "good."

PS - I am actually a Pats fan.

I know you are - my point is htat with a good QB, the Jags are very legit.

Steelers CB Artie Burns left practice after suffering a non-contact right knee injury, confirmed to @TheAthleticPIT by both Mike Hilton and Cam Sutton. Burns wasn't in the locker room following practice. Sutton would start if Burns can't go on Sunday.

Jacksonville needs play disciplined & be ready for 20+ carries from Bell bc Pitt will absolutely go that route imo.

That's honestly all I care about. They'll get to Ben but stay patient at the 2nd level.

You think so? That would be the smart thing but, given everything Ben has said since that game, pride may override that as he tries to prove that game is a fluke. Either way, when they throw, he can’t lock on to Brown. For all the talk about Brady supposedly locking on to Edelman and Welker before him, Ben does it even more with Brown. Ramsey will shut him down. If Pittsburgh’s offense runs through Bell, they win. If it runs with Ben and Brown, the Jags are very capable of taking it.

Yea I really do. At least that would be my game plan? Bell 25+ touches.

You can take advantge of Jags run D, esp w/ inexperienced, albeit talented backers on the 2nd level.

When not killing people, somehow Ray Lewis found time to tape an episode of inside the nfl on showtime and he calls for a Jacksonville win!

Antonio Brown was a full practice participant and looked "amazing, like he hasn't skipped a beat," according to teammate JuJu Smith-Schuster.
