but as with a quasi rookie....
No. He just finished his fourth season. You don't get to call him a rookie, quasi qualifier or no.

Really think what's driving Belichick crazy with 40 year old Brady is there's no finish line. You are so spot on with this. There was something brewing behind the scenes. Didn’t pass the smell test and with this team almost always being able to make the cold business decision. It would have been nice to have seen this one unfold differently or at least a little longer. I think your right.
Felger, how do you know all of this is true and not another steaming pile of your usual trolling ********?Really think what's driving Belichick crazy with 40 year old Brady is there's no finish line.
If Brady came into this season and said I'm playing 2 more years and that's it then Jimmy G would still be here and the Patriots would be all set at QB for the next ten years.
But that is not what's happening.
Brady won't commit to anything, he's got the owners love and loyalty and because of it the GM/HC is stuck in a holding pattern when it comes to the most important position on the football field.
Don't care what the stats say, Brady's game is slowly diminishing. He no longer plays strong games....he plays strong quarters or strong series. It's not a criticism at all, he's 40 years old and that trend of diminishing play will only get worse.
Garappolo was to Brady what Young was to Montana and Rodgers was to Favre.
And the owner forced the GM to trade the heir apparent because I believe Belichick was going to move on from Brady after NEXT season but was told Brady stay long as he wants and that made working out a long term deal with Garappolo impossible without blowing up the roster.
Got cap space?Jimmy G gets franchised, we get another year out of Brady, Brady retires in 2019, Jimmy G is a free agent....
Got cap space?
Where is this coming from?Really think what's driving Belichick crazy with 40 year old Brady is there's no finish line.

Awww did I upset the teenage girls in the Brady fanclub????Felger, how do you know all of this is true and not another steaming pile of your usual trolling ********?
Liar.Awww did I upset the teenage girls in the Brady fanclub????
Sorry but this discussion is for PATRIOT FANS, aka NFL FOOTBALL FANS vs giggling starry eyed Brady fans. There is a HUGE difference between the two and you can tell who belongs in what camp by the "emotion" in the responses.
Fair.It's pretty simple:
If you wanted to keep Jimmy G then you have to trade Brady. Math does not work otherwise. Could have kept them both through the end of this year then traded Brady in the off season (assuming he allows it) You would take a cap hit for Brady leaving and would then have to either franchise JG or extend him for 5/100 or something like that. Would have taken a big bite out of cap in 2018.
I prefer the strategy they took but an argument could be made to have moved on from Brady.
To me this would have reduced their SB chances for the next couple of years but they would likely be in better shape from 2021 forward. (depends on how long Brady plays, who they draft and if JG becomes top 10 or top 3)
I think we have to say that "The Patriots chose..."...
BB chose the 40 year old with no upside and all downside over the 26 year old with upside. Good enough for me to draw my own conclusions.
