Are we ignoring the recent Guerrero news?

Not sure why Brady would have a problem with the patriots when Guerrero is the guy who is out of line.

Not sure. Depends on if Tom thinks Guerrero is out of line or not. Does Tom listen to the NEP trainers? Has the president been set so that AG's course of treatment superceed Cabrera and Mark Price's and Tom thought that was "OK for everyone"?

If what Bedard is reporting is accurate and they needed a sit-down to clear the air with Tom, the reasons could be.
  • Tom owns TB12. This potentially impacts his business and revenue. There might be the public perception that the Pats are throwing shade on the TB12 method and they wanted to assure him that was not the case
  • The NEP are making Tom pay for AG's travel.
  • When it comes to AG, the NEP know how passionate and protective he is of him. Perhaps this was a out-of-courtesy measure.
  • Maybe Tom threw a childish hissy-fit when BB or Kraft told him what the new policy was.

This is a trivial matter and i hope these guys are mature enough to not effect the relationship. The meeting before the miami game if true not resolving matters is concerning. I hope these guys dont let a small matter derail relationships.

The patriots employ a training and conditioning staff.
Nothing Brady has ever said or done leads me to believe under any circumstances that he believes he should tell belichick how to run the team.
It would be totally out of character to think that Brady is saying the patriots need to hire his guy and adopt all of his methods or he is going to raise hell and take his ball and go home.

Removing the sensationalism it seems to me that Guerrero developed a following in the locker room that created a conflict between the patriots staff and Guerrero so belichick ended the conflict, as he should do.
For Brady to expect belichick to fire his training staff and replace them with Guerrero is ludicrous.
This is just a huge non story IMO.

Media just wants to find any little blemish or sign of trouble within the Patriots that they can find to give the rest of the fanbase a sign of hope that the BB/TB era is coming to an end. Too bad it's still looking strong and about to possibly clinch a 7th straight 1st round bye. I believe BB and TB retire together.

I agree. I don't think that was happening at all. I'm certain Tom was advocating to certain players how Guerrero could help them but I don't think he was part of the 'undermining the training and Price's staff' subterfuge.

I think this "sit-down" was just to make sure there wasn't any confusion on messaging and policy between BB/Bob/Tom. Kraft supports TB12, BB is fine w/ Tom and other players using TB12 but just not Guerrero being the determining agency for player health.

Lastly the meeting might have been a, "Hey, your boy Guerrero misunderstood what BB told him. Please talk to him and smooth it out and let him know we are not giving him the boot.".

Sometimes workplace rules are purely a consequence of liability and insurance concerns.

Under the agency doctrine of apparent authority, a principal in certain situations is estopped from denying that a third party had the authority to perform an act when a reasonable person would have concluded that the third party had apparent authority to perform the act. Here, if hypothetically at some future point Guerroro were named as a defendant in a malpractice action by a player, the Patriots might have been jointly liable because the Patriots' providing Guerroro with locker room and sideline access might be held to have constituted apparent authority by Guerroro to treat players. Thus, the Patriots themselves might not have directly cared about any potential malpractice or tort liability, but their insurance company (and the insurance company for the onsite physician) might have declined to indemnify Guerroro. There are other legal doctrines under which an employer could be liable for the actions of non-employees in the employer's workplace when (a) the non-employee was specifically permitted to be in the workplace; (b) the non-employee had apparent authority there; and (c) it was reasonably forseeable to the employer that the plaintiff might rely to his detriment on representations of the non-employee. These doctrines most commonly arise when hospitals are held to be liable for the acts of non-employers, for example in an ER, but they have much broader application. Thus, even if the Patriots trusted Guerroro, and even if he in fact was helpful, it might not have been possible from an insurance point of view to permit him to adopt certain representations of Patriots endorsement such as workplace access.

Just to be absolutely clear: All the above is complete speculation. I have no knowledge whatsoever of the specifics of the Patriots locker room, medical care or insurance coverage. Nor am I familiar with the specifics of the law governing these workplaces.

Have you ever bumped into Tom while strolling down the street?

I ask because, speaking from experience, each time I've seen him he's always been incredibly gregarious and talkative, really down to earth.

But I will say this about him... every time we make plans to get drinks, without fail, right as we're walking into the bar together...

my alarm goes off!

All joking aside, I've never met Tom Brady but I have a hard time imagining that he'd be anything other than kind, genuine, and down to earth, regardless of whether he was interacting with Gisele or Belichick, or some random 'Joe' who bumped into him by chance.

The only reason I could see him intentionally ignoring someone would be to avoid drawing excessive attention to himself, which I don't think anyone would consider rude or unbecoming, but rather a simple necessity of living the life of an easily recognized individual.

I don't know man. He's kind of an ******* at ****s sporting goods.

My sentiment also, #12 is smart enough to know when someone crosses the line even if it is his "friend".. if Bedard's report is correct, BB cannot have someone in Gillette who is sabotaging the efforts of Pats training staff..

Guerrero sounds like he has some serious inflated ego issues.. if BB thought that Guerrero had some credibility and a novel approach to training, then he would have formalized the relationship as some sort of consultant..

Do have a difficult time understanding why Mr. Kraft would even become involved with this blip on the radar.. it is a huge "nothingburger" that does nothing more than fuel sportstalk radio..

Shaugnessy secretly(or openly) hates the pats because they have overtaken his beloved Red sox as #1 in boston. Watch the hit pieces come out on the celtics next now that they are #2 and red sox have slipped.

Jeff howe said his sources say this story is much ado about nothing. Ill take his word over mr. tomato can shaugnessy.

Shaughnessy, Borges et al resent BB because when he first made the scene they were not used to such a self assured guy who would not give them the respect they believed they should have, Borge's butthole got sore because BB allegedly lied to him about Bledsoe, and he has had a hard on for him since then..

Somewhere alone the line read the comparison that prior to BB the Boston Sports writers were at the top of the local Sports Pyramid.. then came BB, Doc, Terry F. etc. All of whom were competent and did not bow to the whims of local media, as a consequence the coaching staff rose above them in the "sports pyramid".. now the mediots are all fumbling at the bottom looking for scraps and trying to create controversy so in their own way can contribute to the demise of coaches. They did it somewhat with Francona, but Francona helped himself mightily by ignoring his responsibility.

Then there is the other aspect of all of this is that the public loves controversy, in the papers and on sportstalk radio.. where yelling matches are the order of the day.

Thus, even if the Patriots trusted Guerroro, and even if he in fact was helpful, it might not have been possible from an insurance point of view to permit him to adopt certain representations of Patriots endorsement such as workplace access.

I had this exact conversation with my doctor during my annual physical on Thursday. He wondered if this was a move to remove the NEP liability if players sued the team for malpractice for "untreated" injuries . It's ok for Tom since he owns the joint and speculated that AG is an employee of his therefore Tom assumes the liability. Furthermore he speculated that the team made Tom sign a medical waiver removing any/all liability if he chose to follow AGs course of treatment and not the team's.

For the other players who see AG by going off prem and basically seeking a 2nd opinion or supplemental care, because he has no formal affiliation with the team, they are not responsible.

Not a Beatles fan. Liked the Stones.

The best thing about the Stones is that once you've heard one of their songs you've heard most of them. They're like the Red Hot Chili Peppers in that regard.

Meanwhile, of the hundreds of songs that the Beatles recorded no two sound alike, and they got better and better as they went along.

I love both bands but in a the proverbial stranded on a deserted island scenario, if I could pick two each give me Sgt Peppers, Revolver, Exile on Main St and Beggar's Banquet.

Are we ignoring the recent Guerrero news?

Well, I've been trying to. But then this thread keeps getting bumped up to the top of the page.
I'm contributing to that as while this story has zero impact on actual wins/losses, it is interesting on a few angles.

Now that we have transitioned to talking about the Beatles I think it'll be dead by Christmas.

But if they lose and Tom plays poorly the usual suspects from the GDT will revive it

Both bands, and the people within them, peaked creatively during the Psychedelic Era, when their minds were expanded by beautiful conciousness-altering subtances.

As for the the thread itself, it is merely the result of Fake News, published by Fake News organizations, and written by Fake News "journalistas." There is absolutely Nothing Whatsoever to see here.

Elton John too. Once he went clean he sucked.
