The defense played about as well as they could after losing Flowers in addition to everyone else. In addition, branch was injured early, and came back.

He left the game with a knee injury after coming back and was ruled out. Which is another injury to keep an eye on in addition to Chung.

He looked good but I don't know about comparing him to Revis. Revis was an all time great.

Also, I wouldn't put Brandin Cooks and Hogan as the measuring sticks. They're good and Brady makes them better, but if Howard shuts down guys like Julio Jones etc. then okay.

Anyone have an opinion on whether that was blatant holding by Xavien Howard on that third down play with Cooks doing the double move? or is that allowed assuming they were within 5 yards? Howard stuck his left arm out and stopped Cooks, but not sure if that's allowed within 5 yards.

Holding is not allowed even within five yards, and Howard did it all night and was not called for it. There was also a lot of contact beyond five yards by Howard and their secondary that went uncalled. As in nearly every time we ran a pass play. As poorly as we played, there seemed to be an awful lot of penalties called on us at the most convenient times to stop drives, such as the false start on the one-foot line, then the really questionable holding a play or two later, etc. This looked like a Goodell game to me. It's a lot more difficult to complete a pass if the defense can do whatever they want.

No sh*t but if they lose and Jacksonville wins then they fall to the 3rd seed. Had they won tonight it would give them a slight margin for error. Again have to win out now.
They have to beat Pitt, that's all there is to it, no matter how this game went. Both teams were not going to run the table.

One of the mods can track this down if they want, but I posted a while ago that with three out of their four final games against Division teams, they were going to drop one of them. So, they did. **** happens.

They still control their destiny.
Win out and they have HFA and a week off.
Lose next week and they don't even get the week off if JAX wins out. It's the NFL. That's about it.
Good night!

I agree, but that 80 yard drive after our first TD was awful.

That is the kind of thing that happens when you have players like Lee or Roberts play the majority of snaps. They are at best situational pieces. Add in a couple of missed tackles and you are beyond any margin for error if the offense cant get anything going.

Tommy looked like ****

I’m not booking my trip go Sota

That onsides kick is going to make a few good memes.

No doubt but even if they beat Pittsburgh they have to win out because the steelers have two winning games to end the season. If the pats win they would be 11-3 and so would Pittsburgh. Had they won tonight and next week they would have a two game cushion.

well...I know one landing spot Brady will never take if he ever leaves the Pats...seen this movie before...even worse. I'd like to be angry about it but...jeezus, I was in another room listening to the play by play on speakers and constantly kept saying "who?...where'd THIS guy come from? who's THAT guy?"...I'm just glad the Pats and Brady got out of there without being Suhed...

So what ? How often have we seen a receiver realize that and just slow down a bit to force the DB to run into him either ensuring that at worst those throws are incompletions or at best draw a flag ?

I am not saying Cooks should have caught the ball that was clearly impossible. But what he should have done is show situational awareness and prevent the INT by giving up on the catch and seeking contact.

Fair enough. I put most of the blame on the underthrow. Howard made a great play showing nice recovery speed. Cooks could’ve done more to at least break up the pass.

That’s the kicker... they still control their own destiny for the 1 seed. It was a ****ty night, but this fact still holds true. No reason to go mental.

That's why I thought this game was big tonight. Now basically they have to beat Pittsburgh at all costs. I still don't understand why this team continues to struggle in Miami.

There are three possible explanations for Brady's play tonight:
A. He had a bad night and the team was missing too many key players.
B. He's hurt.
C. It's week 14 and this is what happens to 40 year old QB's in week 14 when they've only had one week off since August.

Personally, I'm going with "A" until proven otherwise.
If it's "B," I hope they stop ****ing around with us and just tell us.
C. is unthinkable.
D his receivers couldn’t get open.

Go on and be concerned about Jacksonville if you like. I have better things to do than that.

That defense's not joke. Number 12 needs to start looking like number 12. He hasn't recently. We will find out next Sunday if the real brady will stand up.
