The Beheadings In Cleveland have Begun

Ryan Grigson is in the FO there.

I bet he threw Brown under the bus

LOL at ownership believing that balls 'n sticks computer gweeps could successfully operate a real sport. Next time, boys, try soccer or bassett-ball.

The other thing I wonder is if they are trying to lure some coach that will also want gm power...this move obviously clears the way for that. I just cant see anyone of quality (that would demand this level of power)interested in this position.

You got that right.

Its a train wreck. Brown hires Moneyball DePodesta to be the Ernie Adams. Then he hires 28 year old Grigson protege, Fresh Prince of Bel Air (serious) Harvard CB Andrew Berry and Cal Berkeley economics nerd Ken Kovash to help Berry with player personnel.

Chisom Opara is probably the only pure NFL football guy they have as he was a UFA and was a scout under Ozzie in BAL.

I respect the Berry and Opara hires but they are influenced by eggheads and little to no real world football experience.

It was doomed from the beginning and sealed when the f-ed up the McCarron trade

The guy they fired, was he the genius who used first rounders on Wheedon and Johnny Football?

They've got a bounty of draft picks coming their way, including (I think) 5 picks in the first two rounds, and they're going to get their QB this upcoming season. They're also going to have plenty of money to spend. So, basically, someone else is going to reap the benefits of Sashi Brown's efforts.

Weeden was Holmgren and Johnny Absolut was Farmer but everyone in the CLE draft room says Haslem told him to draft Absolut

The Peter Principle in all its glory.

Except the incompetence is measured with the tools handed to Hue by the FO instead of the tools desired by Hue himself.

If Hue was a Chef and I handed him a dead fish I shouldn't expect an award winning bowl of clam chowhah.

But yeah. 1-27 sounds like I couldn't get that chowdah even if I handed him a can of it.

They did do a good job with the economics and corralling picks but when it came to picking players and making trades.....not a lot of sucess to point towards.

The Browns didn't **** up by trying to get some analytics going. It's that they picked a non-football guy. That's insane to me.

That being said, I'd like to use this post to officially make myself available to replace him. I'm young, I have potential, and I'm hungry. Hmu Browns

The Twittter-verse is writing Sashi's epitaph as "The guy who passed on Carson Wentz and Deshawn Watson".

While this benefits from 20/20 hindsight, it is factual, and facts are stubborn things.

In the NFL, if you are the GM of a team that does not have a franchise quarterback, your job is to get a franchise quarterback.

The guys who drafted Wentz and Watson are keeping their jobs, Sashi isn't.

The Browns sing the Blues...

(I am not affiliated with them)

There are some organizations that have done very well with non-football guys at the top but they were smart enough to let/have rock-solid football guys run the show.

Look at Carman Policy with SF (not CLE). He was a cap cheat and a nice buffer between the football guys and Fast Eddie Debartalo.

Howie Roseman in Philly is another. I thought he was a total and complete hack but hes listening to his football guys and is doing a great job. He was a gopher boy and did scouting, cap mgt and other odds-n-ends.

Hate to admit it but Polian never played a lick in the NFL but he did play semi pro and started out as a grunt scout. He paid his dues.

KC GM Carl Peterson was another.

The key is the non football guys started out as scouts.

Sashi was a lawyer making 10m a year. Not good.

I have a hard time judging Hue either way when trapped under that FO and ownership.

There is just no way you can only have 1 win in (almost) 32 games. Even the talent devoid roster of the Colts has won multiple games this year with a medicore QB like JB. As much as Hue seems to be a nice dude he just needs to go because he is the embodyment of the losing is acceptable nature that has its headquarter right now in Cleveland.

There is really no excuse for Hue Jackson, I've watched the Browns a few times unfortunately and his teams look totally unprepared and doesn't look like a professional football team in the least.

He is total garbage, Jeff Fisher is a better HC than him.

BB would get them to over .500 within two seasons.
