9 straight wins for the C's. Tough game tonight against a bad team but your going to have tough ones especially with the three game road stretch including two in a row.

Kyrie was awesome. Totally clutch and a real legit superstar. Tatum also had a great game, sinking clutch shots.

Everyone else was a mixed bag but they still pulled it out despite an overall lacking performance. Got a days rest and a home game against LAL. Should absolutely make it 10 straight. This team is very fun to watch.

The upside to Hayward's injury (that was hard to type) is the extra playing time for the youngsters. It'll pay off next year when Hayward's back and Smart's gone.

Smart keeps playing like he's playing, and he's not going anywhere.

Yeah, this was the last of a three road games in four days stretch. Most teams have this as a scheduled loss.

The Hawks are obviously not a good team, but their offense is fast, unorthodox, and tough to defend when knocking down difficult shots which they were tonight. It was a tough win, but something the Celtics had to persevere through on the second night of a back to back on the road. It was an impressive win. Kyrie and Horford took over because they needed to and the rookie Tatum had a very efficient, productive game. I'm having fun watching this team which is something I didn't expect after Hayward's injury.

I used to have some loose Vegas numbers to back this up, but I’m getting rusty and lazy. You’re definitely correct.

And they still went out and battled. That's not just Kyrie Irving and Horford. That's Brad Stevens.

Remember people were worried how he'd do having to coach actual talent?

From what I've read, the opposite is true: they won't have the space to pay him.

Of course they do. They can pay him more than anyone else. Wyc has already said he's got no problem spending into the luxury tax (and has done it before).

People were wrong to think that. Brad is widely recognized as one of the very best coaches in the league and will likely be considered the best in the not too distant future.

If you are a coach that borders on incompetent like Lue then sure this will be an issue but Brad has already proven himself to be a very good coach. As long as the players are coachable, superstars included, it shouldn't be an issue.

Brad like the guy in San Antonio is the BB's of HC's in the NBA. One thing you have to like about Brad he gets his players to jell really quickly. Also he can coach up players too. Take for instance Semi Ojeleye he's a Draymond Green type player stretch three or four type with a pro body he's a older prospect by todays standards but he can play. I am so happy that Brick Layer Josh Jackson blew off Ainge for a workout...because the first time I saw Jayson Tatum I wanted him, superior player to Josh Jackson.

I am the only who thinks Gordon Hayward can come back?? I know it's a long shot and it depends on how he feels. But the injury happened so early it would be something if we can get back him back for the last Month of the season to knock off some rust.

I don't think so and given the way the team has played without him he should be shut down, no question. Let him heal and rehab completely. This team can still be expected to reach their preseason expectations, maybe even get to the finals.

We have a coach that players looking for a ring will WANT to play for. This is a great situation going forward.

Does anyone have some good articles or insights into what makes Stevens special? I am not much of a basketball guy, but I am trying to get into it more.

I would love to know more about the X & O's stuff.

Here is a vid that someone on reddit shared with me:

Yup. I think this year the way Kyrie has really blossomed under a great coach and system can only further inspire the players confidence in Stevens. We've got a core of hard working players with the primary desire of winning. Bodes well for the future.

They don't have the space to pay a guy who could command high teens/year but who will be, at best, the #8 player in the rotation next year, and not much better than the #9 and #10 players. He just won't get enough minutes to warrant that kind of money.
