2017 . Trade Deadline . thread

This isn't a Hightower replacement, but I'd love for the Pats to trade for Zach Brown on the Redskins. I know many others around here wanted him this off-season as well.

I think they really like Trevor Reilly to fill that spot.

It would be nice to still have Chandler Jones and or Jamie Collins right about now.

The Pats suffer from a lack of top end talent. Game changers. Hightower was the only one on the defense and nobody is going to trade you a game changer.

Casillas might be worth a 7th rounder at most. He had a couple of surprisingly solid years for the Giants in 2015 & 2016. Forget about the other guys though - 2 of which hardly sniffed defensive snaps while previously here.

I don’t think so. Reilly is a special teamer.

I think the likely move is Van Noy take Hightower role ( he is actually better suited to it than the one he had been playing) and Harris takes vannoys with mcclellin in the mix after the bye. Roberts will see time on the rare occasions we play 3 lb
A trade is also possible.

This is why BB gets the big bucks. Fix it.

Casillas was a special teams player here
Don’t be surprised if the move to replace Hightower already happened and its David Harris.

Get cracking, BB! Linebackers! We need linebackers!

I can't imagine them finding a player at the deadline who's better than Harris or Roberts, and McClellin will be back in a few weeks. That's not to say those guys are superstars or anything, but they know the system and teams aren't exactly lining up to trade starting-caliber players to the Patriots. Maybe they should have made a bigger push for Bowman a couple weeks ago, though him moving across the Bay to the Raiders suggests to me that no other team was seriously in the running since he didn't have to move or anything.

If we're picking through old trash, Akeem Ayers is a free agent, but again - better than what they have? Probably not.

I think Ayers would already be here if he was still the same player of 2014.

Casillas hurt his neck in week 5 and hasn’t practiced since, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s not an option.

(Giants fans say he has been awful this year too, but that’s probably moot.)

Harris fine vs run and Green dot, but still need an edge rush on passing downs. Maybe biggest missing element with loss of HT.

I think that will be Marsh.

Definitely is a little discouraging that he couldn't make it in Indy, and that we never ended up signing him. Gotta wonder where he's at in terms of his skills.

HT will get well soon. At least that forces BB to draft a LB. They really need talent there to pair with HT and KVN be our depth guy. DE/LB are our top 1.a and 1.b needs. Don't get me wrong they need another SS and a CB after Butler's departure.
