a few things. positives first.

Amendola was huge. After his op interference Brady came right back to him on a great pass that was low and kept him SAFE. That particular play is one that Peyton Manning would've just gotten his receiver killed and not care.

Defense and Chung in particular held up well. Chung was constantly challenged by their tight end with favorable results for us.

Special teams was good.

Now the bad. Something is wrong with Solder. We have nothing after Gronk from the tight end position. Where is Dorsett and why not give him those reverses instead of Hogan?

Yeah. Defense def played better. Im just saying Tampa could of had 13-16 more points. Heck, even 3 more and they might go for the FG at the end instead.

Not trying to gloom on our win though. 3-2 is all I truly care about.
No offense, but I hate you and your creepy anime avatar. But don't mind me, I have a vague suspicion that anime is borderline child porn.

Go Pats.

OK, Ian, I am back.

NFL kickers make 40-49 field goals an average of 80% of the time

Field Goals by Kicking Distance, Percent breakdown by Attempt and Made

It's not a narrative. They literally only won because of missed field goals. If Folk makes his field goals, we lose. Do you understand how that works? I don't think I can make it any more clear

That was a bad grouping they did. There's a hell of a difference between a 42 yard attempt and a 49 yard attempt.

More to the point, the rate for 50+yarders is 50%. You rarely see attempts longer than 55. I suspect the actual conversion rate for 49 yard attempts is closer to 60-65% than the 80% that 40-49 yard grouping shows.

I'm really getting tired of all the OPI calls.

Can't stand them.

And the holding calls when they are not even holds. Just push downs. Two weeks in a row we've watched players push the opposition to the ground. Result: holding call. I suppose from now on you should only push players and make sure they stay upright.

My only concern is BB's trust in Gost. He's been solid and you punt a very makeable 52 yarder? At the time yes the D was playing well and field position worked out but it had shades of the 2011 super bowl. He's your guy. Youre paying him to be a top kicker, let him kick it.

Hindsight is 20/20 but if we lose that game it could go back to questioning the choice to punt/kick the FG. Put some faith in Gost, BB.

I thought the game tonight would be close tonight but didn't think the Bucs would have a chance to win it at the end. The D looked better but the pass rush was still nonexistent and silly penalties and mistakes still dog the Pats. The offense was good enough to win but not as dominating as it has been. TB obviously did not have his best stuff and he sorely missed Gronk. He was hit a lot tonight and that is unforgivable for a 40 year old QB regardless of how well conditioned he is. I saw Scar talking to the O line every time they came off the field and I can't imagine he was happy. TB was rushed so much that he didn't really have the time to spread the ball around. With a 10 day window before the next game, I wonder if BB will make any personnel changes. The team tonight might be able to beat the Bucs and the Jets but the same effort will not work against teams like Atlanta, Oakland and, surprisingly, Buffalo.

Pretty admirable performance by Brady, if you ask me. Interception was off, sailed on him; couple off target throws too. The miss to Hogan was due to pressure.

He didn’t get a lot of time to throw. Still had 75% completion with 300 yards. He gets a pass, his line did another poor job.

Providing perspective. The andyjohnsons of the forum are coming out of hibernation with their I told you so's about the defense. The incompetence of Nick Folk saved us today.

The Jangles of the world seem to want to "Yeah but" a tough, hard fought road win on a short week. This was a win in which improvement in areas of concern was shown. Other areas of concern remain. It does not matter at all what might have happened had something that did not happen happened.

Pregame, the gal sideline said this was the biggest game in Tampa since 2008

NFC S is brutal, dirty division
Second only to AFC N

OT Anyone esle have general issues at patriots.com?
Opera/Chrome/IE 11 fail.
UC Browser works, but it chokes.

Jangles has a decent sized point, but his attempt to try turning it into a mega sized "gotcha" undercuts his entire argument. It's needless on his part, because it should be clear to everyone that Folk missing 3 FGs played a big part in the Patriots limping away with this victory.

I recall 1 jet sweep to Hogan tonight, but none others & none last week either.

I thought we'd see those nearly every game (like Seattle with Harvin a few years ago), especially with Cooks and Dorsett. Get those guys the ball in open space.

I've been here every day dufus.
The defense played great tonight.

Roughly as ****ing ignorant as saying "I have a vague suspicion that football fans are borderline domestic abusers."

And I hate anime.

It wasn't a matter of trust. It was a sound football decision given the circumstances.

The team played hard tonight and down to the very end. The defense which had been looking utterly clueless the past two weeks finally stabilized.

The Bucs have a competent QB and an elite set of weapons. I was expecting them to drop 30 on us and to give up a lot of first downs.

Instead the secondary had their best game of the season. Gilmore largely made Evans a non factor which was big and Butler fared well against Jackson, granted Winston missed out on a long TD.

The safety play was very good as well. Strong performances from both Chung and McCourty whom were being speculated of falling off the cliff.

They made a lot of third down stops and should have had more if not for stupid penalties.

It wasn't perfect by any means but it was a major improvement from what was happening against Carolina and Houston.

I think we might soon be lamenting the offensive line as the biggest problem on our team instead of the defense.

Wha? Wuss goin on

I enjoyed this game! Nice hard fought slog. The penalties were maddening. I hope this gives the D some confidence. I can't wait for BB to tear the team a new one on bad penalties, and I don't mean those late hit penalties. Those were BS!

I can't wait for Kontra's thread! The only thing better than that is going on to opposing forums. Their agony is delicious! Donkeys fans whining how we got bailed out. Lol their team got bailed out so many times in 2015. Suck on that Donkeys fans!
