First of all when you're 2-2 going into the game the only thing that matter is winning the game, there's no style points in the NFL

Defense played much better than the first 4 weeks bar a series when Martin ran wild but i'd like to see it continue for another week with no big coverage busts to be completely convinced cause Winston seemed to miss a few wide open guys.

The offensive line was BRUTAL though, Brady is going to be beat to hell by week 10 if we don't protect better, Solder was awful.

Some of these penalties are unacceptable, jumping offsides when they're punting and giving them a free first down and committing back to back 15 yard penalties with 2 seconds left in the half and clock running which let them get a free attempt at a field goal.

Some of these issues are things that you see with the Bengals, not the Patriots, i just don't understand what was happening with these bonehead penalties.

No their kicker missed easy field goals

Defense played better. Don't get carried away

Holy **** you trolls and doom and gloomers are something else.

lol A 56 and 49 yard FG are not easy field goals and the 56 yard attempt was a gift from the refs.

But go ahead and use the "they only won because of missed FGs" ****ty narrative just opens it up to the narrative that Tampa was only in it because Brady overthrew Hogan on the opening drive that would have set NE up at the TB 36

I doubt we punt from their 35 (?) if it is a one possession game or play as conservative as we did after any of their misses. As usual people are too dense to realize that them hitting one of the last two FGs changes our playcalling and general approach completely.

There's so much wrong with this team right now. How much is little things that are easy to fix, and how much runs deeper, is the question that Bill's going to have to figure out. And he'd better do it soon, because this team has 4 very competitive teams after the Jets game (unless the Rams are frauds, in which case it will be 3 very competitive teams in 4 games).

Sounds like we already know who "won" the battle for Los Angeles......

No one worries about us running the ball. They figure if we run it, it is a play Brady does not have and a win for the D. So they are coming full tilt all the time. We have to make teams respect the run at least a little.

Dude I have some bad news, the Rams aren't going to give up their promising rookie starter so the Patriots can assemble your dream Aryan All-Star Team

Heh
He does look like the closest to Edelman right now though, eh?

I am enjoying this Rams team. NFC is weak, they could actually make a run.

Okay, I am angling for a post super bowl Marshall F crying jag.
After Pats beat Rams

Again
Heh.

I thought the game tonight would be close tonight but didn't think the Bucs would have a chance to win it at the end. The D looked better but the pass rush was still nonexistent and silly penalties and mistakes still dog the Pats. The offense was good enough to win but not as dominating as it has been. TB obviously did not have his best stuff and he sorely missed Gronk. He was hit a lot tonight and that is unforgivable for a 40 year old QB regardless of how well conditioned he is. I saw Scar talking to the O line every time they came off the field and I can't imagine he was happy. TB was rushed so much that he didn't really have the time to spread the ball around. With a 10 day window before the next game, I wonder if BB will make any personnel changes. The team tonight might be able to beat the Bucs and the Jets but the same effort will not work against teams like Atlanta, Oakland and, surprisingly, Buffalo.

A win is a win...but something is off.
Undisciplined play is the problem. This group has a negative vibe about them. Maybe it is the feeling fate stole their chance for greatness when Edelman got injured. Or maybe it is the Bulter and Gilmore situation. Whatever it is, the penalties really hurt today, as did Brady getting treated like a rag doll.

NFL kickers make 40-49 field goals an average of 80% of the time

Field Goals by Kicking Distance, Percent breakdown by Attempt and Made

It's not a narrative. They literally only won because of missed field goals. If Folk makes his field goals, we lose. Do you understand how that works? I don't think I can make it any more clear

I also thought Gilmore had a good game, good bounce back game from him.

Lets hope that the secondary communication issues are getting fixed.

Take the win, but I feel like I'm watching the Pete Carroll pats where almost every game came down to the last possession

Am I missing something? Thursday night game, some sloppiness to be expected, but I thought it was a hard fought win. The D made some big stops unlike the last 4 weeks. Offense seemed a little off and did not capitalize on some open looks and favorable 3rd and shorts. I thought if anything this was more complimentary football. Great job by The D, the secondary in particular especially with a few nice plays from the all of a sudden board scapegoat, Chung.

TB is a solid team and beating them on the road on a short week is a good win. Keep improving on D and the offense will do their thing. Call me a homer but it does remind me of 2014. Lots of wake up calls to key players and will continue to get better. BB and Matt P seemed pleased from what I saw. Have 10 days to improve on mistakes. Long season boys. Keep improving every week and I like our chances come January.

If Folk hits the earlier kick, both teams probably play significantly different after that. The Patriots likely wouldn't have played so close to the vest, for example.
