There was a study that showed long term meth and H users had brains that showed similar damage and tau amounts to those who were in early stages of Alzheimer's.

I don't think that is AH but who knows.

I wouldn't put it past him.

The news that should be emphasized here is that a 27 year old man who stopped playing football at age 23 had the penultimate stage of CTE.

That kind of dazes me.

Agreed.

I and many others believe the league is dying a slow death.

It's already world's apart from previous decades and a worse product.

It either changes more. Most likely more the worse. Or dies completely.

I wouldn't put it pass him.
True. He hasn't exactly earned the benefit of the doubt on anything.

He could have been doing meth or H as a teen or at U of F while his brain was still developing.

So much we don't know.

This case will be thrown out

I remembered a report back then claiming Hernandez used angel dust pcp.

Goodell doesn't like to settle or lose

I do remember reading how the lawyer was intimating to the press that the Patriots SHOULD provide the "fiance" some $$. He must know that there is no case linking CTE to the Hernandez suicide. He also is well aware that should this ever go to court, all of Hernandez's past actions can be admissible. He'll be looking to settle this out of court for sure.

This guy was in the league for only 3 years. It's scary if he indeed have it. Idk.

I don't think the Hernandez lawyer is lying about the CTE. That would be pretty bold by him and the doctor who said it was present.

It is pretty scary if CTE definitely led to Hernandez' behavior. It almost sounds like the effects of smoking impacting different people differently. We may both start smoking at the same time, but I get diagnosed with cancer within 5 years while you smoke for 40 years without any significant health issues. With CTE, Aaron Hernandez becomes a murderer within 3 years while Steve Young isn't similarly affected.

Well they could claim he was abusing heavy drugs. I mean pcp? Angel Dust. Hernandez was out of whack

Pretty sure the testing procedures for CTE are fairly strict in what they're looking for. In other words, I don't think we'd see as much mimicking of drug use like you would with other diseases, but I could be wrong. I'm sure we'll be finding more out about it in the coming months.

“Researchers who examined the brain determined it was “the most severe case they had ever seen in someone of Aaron’s age,” said a lawyer for Hernandez in announcing the result at a news conference on Thursday. Hernandez was 27.”

The NCAA is going down on this too.

Thanks. I was going to ask what his concussion history was with the Patriots. I didn't recall him having any, but knew I might have missed it.

I regret that he lacked the the good sense to avoid murdering people, and am grateful he retained enough good sense to kill himself.

Whatever the excuse, medical or otherwise, we're well rid of him. Without the cognitive limitations CTE may have imposed, perhaps he would have killed even more people. He was a psychopath, one suspects, well before his bell first got rung.

You may think me insensitive. I'll reserve my sympathy for the innocent, to include his victims, his fiancee, and their child.
