hey, how about my pain knowing YOU will be here posting your maddeningly reasonable observations after Pats games? I must be a real massachist..

I think Lewis can create separation in that role. Burkhead possibly could but I haven't seen enough on him.

Main point being that if they can work a guy into that role the offense should be just fine.

And hopefully they'll score enough points to keep Patriotspy or whatever his name is from posting "40 year old weak armed" bull ****. haha

Well wasn't just him. As I said earlier, I went uh oh after that Allen misfire. His arm isn't weak, it's just innacurate. Back shoulder throw to Cooks, off. I offer that his deep balls to Cooks we're off just ever so slightly.

His arm isn't weak, just some unusual inaccuracies. Again, when a QB is 40 and in the very first game he goes for 40 something percent is is a bit disconcerting to say the least. Do I believe he just fell off the cliff? Since week 3 of the preseason? No.

I just can't wait to see how he looks against NO. If it's more of the same.....I pray it isn't and have trust he will figure it out. I just won't flat out reject the "bad" thought just because I don't want to think about it.

how many game speed reps did Brady get in preseason? Relax...it might take a few more games but he'll get HIS game ironed out

I think that is going to be quite the challenge in such a short period of time, but I certainly hope that you're correct. Perhaps he can help dictate coverage and open up certain areas for others.

Hogan and Gronk on the outside
The two speedsters in the slot
White/Lewis in the backfield

Dorsett and Gronk on the outside
Cooks and White/Lewis/Burkhead in the slot
White/Lewis/Burkhead in the backfield.

Those groupings seem like no-brainers to me. You then can either leave the backfield RB with Brady, or split him out, according to what Brady sees when he reads the defense. Also, use more motion with Cooks.

I'm not worried about the offense as much as I am the defense. 42 points, 400 yards passing to a garbage QB. Big plays, weak pressure, poor tackling. Is it coaching or is our D especially front 7 not talented enough?

Look at the 2012, 2013, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2017 nfl drafts

How many impact D starters do we have on NE from those drafts?

Hightower
Flowers
Harmon- good backup
Butler- went undrafted
?????? Maybe Wise

The D is very devoid of star talent in the front 7

Ryan walked, Easley released, Collins traded, Jones traded, brown has played like a JAG so far in his career, Richards tavon bequette and Grissom busts, cyrus injured, rivers injured, valentine injured.

However bad the QB is, Tyreek Hill is one of the most dynamic receivers in the league, and as the year goes on I think we'll see looking back that Hunt is really good as well. That's not to give the defense a pass; they were absolute ****ing garbage and deserve to spend the next week and a half hearing from Belichick exactly how much they sucked. The one thing I will say is that most teams don't have a guy like Hill, or Hunt for that matter. Those two plays that combined for 150 yards and two touchdowns of Smith's passing production would total maybe 40 yards against almost any other team.

I wouldn't mind seeing quite a bit of Allen in at TE and Gronk split out wide, either.

Gronk worried me tonight; I know part of it was being covered by Berry, but he seemed like he was moving gingerly. I'm not convinced he's 100%, and maybe putting him a position where he absorbs fewer hits might help us get more out of him.

Whoa!

Not good to be hearing players saying stuff like that about the team, especially with TB12's comments about team attitude.

Yeah, looks like the stalwarts are not happy with the new kids' work ethic.

Hunt is good, but as has been noted by writers, the DL couldn't tackle worth a sh*t. No way is he as good as he showed tonight, and any good cover LBer is going to cover him pretty well. When there are massive holes to run through any RB will look great.

If he plays a few more games like tonight, we could easily be 0-3, which would pretty much be the end of any discussion re: HFA.

I get where you're coming from, and I don't totally disagree. When your WR3 and your MLB both joined the team in the last week, you aren't going to look good and that's understandable. But the losses still count as much as any other.

I called Malcom Brown a bust in the game thread because I'm so disgusted with him, so I don't disagree. But on the 75 yard touchdown pass he caught--which is the specific play I was referring to--that was a fantastic catch and run that most players just flat-out can't make.

yeah...and Al Michaels the parrot kept squawking it non stop. Brady had wide open receivers all night he went AWAY from. This D is the same scheme Wrecksie used in the past to defend against Brady. You could see him flinch a couple of times at things that weren't there...just like that playoff loss. I think the Chiefs D co-ordinator worked under Ryan when he was with the Jets (?)...

Yup, Sutton was with the Jets from 2000-2012

This team should have the 6 AFCE games in its pocket. Unless there's a surprise collapse somewhere, every other game should involve legitimate NFL opponents who can beat the Patriots.

Saints
Panthers
Texans
Bucs

If this team doesn't pull its head out of its ass, we could see a pretty poor start to the season.

Yes he did. I remember one play it was clear he had Cooks streaking past his man on the left and instead he threw an incomplete pass elsewhere.

It was almost like someone decided to say screw it on the 4th and one plays. On both they could have bumped it outside and had a first or more. It's head shaking all around.

Not meaning to sound pessimistic, but I wouldn't even begin to think about HFA until about halfway through the year, and that's if they're at least 6-2 or 6-3.

Not because I've lost faith, but just due to the injuries and expected growth period. The good news is that 10-6 will almost certainly get us the division and possibly even a 3 seed.

Didn't manage to see the game or watch any highlights yet being in the u.k. From what I've seen so far is the following ; Brady was poor by his usual standards, the defence was really poor and Alex smith had one of the best games of his NFL career and that Hill and Hunt had very solid games..

And that Hightower supposedly has an MCL sprain and could miss 2-3 weeks, along with Amendola's concussion.

Also WR Malcolm Mitchell was placed on IR prior to the game.

If they are 10-6, seeding won't matter. They will be bounced in the first round. They need to square their **** away by next weekend. Period.

At 0-3 and if he plays like tonight...Jimmy G is the QB. And it would be the end of TB12 here in NE.

That's not a comfortable thought.
