shook it off

Not automatically. He did go back in but that didn't mean he was okay.

I don't think it is anything season ending particularly at this point but if he were to miss a few weeks it wouldn't surprise me with his past foot issues.

Really wanted Mitchell to get some reps in TC we know what the others can do.

Posted this on the Injuries thread. Hate the Giants but this sucks.

Evan Engram is going to be huge for the Giants if Shepard is out for the year. He's essentially a big slot receiver.
I really like Shepard and thinks he has a very bright future. I would hate to see him miss his sophomore season.

Moore seems kind of like a DB version of Danny Woodhead -- undersized, coming from a low level of college competition, but a very good athlete who dominated at that level. (Apparently he didn't try football until his senior year of high school, which accounts for him not being a DI recruit.) His pro day measurables, fyi:

5'9" 185, 4.47 15 40.5" 10'7" 6.86

way too harsh . it was a solid LB committee last year . could be better this year
if someone like KVN shows 3 down (they are obviously working on it) then one less LB is necessary . McClellin steps up w Ninko gone for now, like it or not . Langi is only starting but agreed . great to hear being w starters so early!

I don't think it is harsh. Look at the super bowl. The Falcons had 344 total yards.

Over 1/3rd were lost due to bad LB play by those not named Hightower.

Freeman first Falcons play 37 yard run. Due to the guy opposite Hightower misreading. (McClellin I think) Q1 13:37

Freeman 15 yard run (Van Noy in the wrong lane) Q2 13:11

Freeman 39 yards pass (Roberts I think) Q4 5:53

Just those 3 clearly blown plays make up 91 yards. Add in 3 or 4 more questionable plays (not going through them all) they made up over 1/3rd of Atlanta's yardage from easily preventable plays. I think we have every reason to be critical of them and claim they have a lot to prove. If you think I am being too harsh that is fine. I just disagree and think I am being just the right amount of it.

Love what he has done so far. Too this point though CJ and JJ are doing well and keeping him off the team if they ONLY carry 5. If JJ and CJ do well I don't think you can cut either for more. Doesn't mean you can't carry him anyway though.

Wondering why we haven't heard much about Brandin Cooks in a while? He sounded unstoppable early on. Is he not getting as many reps....or is the coverage on him been better?
I have visions of '07 when they essentially kept Randy Moss "under wraps" until week one at the Meadowlands when he caught a long TD and 180 yds receiving total...........

Cause we have a damn good secondary. If we heard from Cooks all the time that would be worrying to me. I think Cooks is a great player and so is Brady but Butler/Gilmore/McCourty and co are very good players too and should be able to win some days.

Interesting. He's also just 21 which helps. Not like 25 year old KT tearing up camp.

Definitely passed the eye test over the weekend. Change of direction/reaction time is his game. Enough OTAs/minicamp/camp reports to know he can probably play, just a matter of which UDFA group he eventually falls in:

Jonathan Jones, Cre'von Leblanc, Justin Coleman, Sterling Moore, Randall Gay, etc.

1/10,000 lottery Malcolm Butler/Chris Harris Jr.

We could use a depth CB from the first group.

true. but expectations are a trap. Roberts was a rookie w couple of injuries on the season basically limping into 53, McClellin missed part of TC and season through inj and concussion. Im not a fan of his “lazy“ presence (the play he blew in SB you describe is due to this “laziness“, lack of awareness, sharpness; he was not aware of the block coming..) but it is his turn to step up and do his job. KVN did a good job coming mid-season dealing with his own inj. previously.

Langi should not be looked as saviour of the LB situation . those expectations would be way too high . hopefully he can have a nice camp and be a versatile backup.

With the addition of Harris this is a solid group (Bill likes Freeny as well) . and on such a loaded team this should be good enough..

Just a thought on the Hogan tweak. Yesterday on a pass to him in the endzone, Hogan stayed down long than you'd think. Got up and threw his helmet to the ground. Then he walked to the sideline without a noticeable limp, but definitely"gingerly".

BTW- I hope that everyone's expectations about Brandin Cooks don't get as high as the media seems to think. I admit I didn't watch him very closely, but there was never a moment on the field where he "popped". Not that he did anything wrong, but on this day, he didn't do anything that made him stand out and go "wow".

I really hope that Roberts makes this roster, but inorder for it to be plausible he needs to develop some ST's skills. IIRC Roberts didn't have many ST's reps (if at all) last season. He'll be hard to carry if all he can do is be a back up 2 down ILB

My favorite exchange from a pre-draft interview:

What is your biggest strength?

I can learn new things without having bad habits.

That is one of the best answers I've heard. I hope it's true. Might have our slot corner.

LB play was fine last year. Jesus we were #1 in points allowed.
