Excellent rebuttal.

Ha, c'mon. Do you really want me saying the same thing every few days? Gotta try to give a least a couple weeks between saying the same stuff.

Cliff Notes: losing = winning this year, and saving cap space with young players vs veterans = great

A better solution would be for you to take a nice long break from posting.

No, losing = losing. Acceptance of losing = reinforcement of a losing team culture with negative rammifications reaching beyond this season.

Are there any JETE season ticket holders that aren't riding a unicorn or rainbow into 2018? I know the better question is, why there are any JETE season ticket holders in the first place?

It's a great question. Why would anyone want to spend money to go to their games? Why would Jete players even want to play games if the organization and fans have given up on them winning before the season even begins? How can players be expected to give maximum effort so their "skills" can be assessed if losing is part of the plan and even encouraged?

I think KickMe79 has delusionally rationalized Jete mismanagement into an alleged "plan" that wasn't intentional but the result of a team that has screwed itself into a corner with nowhere left to turn.

Getting rid of expensive veterans and building through the draft is a brilliant idea. It always works. No wonder 79 is so pumped. I don't see how it can miss. Here's a tip just as fool proof for him to get rich in the stock market: buy low and sell high.

Yup. Every team that ever has tried it has become dominant in its division and won the Super Bowl. Woody, Cromagnon and Blowes finally have found a way to outmaneuver BB.

Tune is the smart one. You're the funny one.
See that's the kind of stereotyping that can lead one to a rush to judgment that say might bring a GM or owner to draft a QB from USC because they've had qb's drafted before. Tune is impressively book and observationally smart that leads to funny points but no one has more street smarts on this board than joker (I won't even get into how early on he was pointing out the evil that is Goodell) and he knows his alphabet too. The intelligence and sense of humor traits are not mutually exclusive.

Message boards need to create a universal sarcasm font.

You didn't think I was actually serious about Tune being smart, did ya?

Joker? Yeah I know. I don't doubt his intellect. (Other than being a Pats fan of course.)

I know you may not know much about emojis besides this (known as the jete) but the sarcastic response you're looking for can be expressed by this or this or this or this . But for you I would use .

Yeah, it's only been 49 years. What does THAT amount of time tell you? Hint: the Jete suck.

We've got to do something special for their 50th year of sucking in '18.

Anniversary logo? What do you think? Somebody w/graphics skills?

He should have been more specific: "I am a desperate believer in unicorns and miracles. I believe that a team with one of the NFL's worst championship droughts going back 49 years will suddenly turn things around by not trying to win this season and by placing all its faith in a draft pick that may or may not be atop the 2018 draft and may or may not become a franchise leader his rookie year."

Right on the money, you will never win by creating a culture of losing. Even a winning franchise can turn into o e with a loser mentality by setting the wrong tone in the locker room, as the Patriots found out in 2009, when Belichick had the well known quote of" I can't get this team to do anything."

You build a winner by bringing in guys who absolutely hate to lose, not by hoping a rookie will save you. And any team that sets out to lose on purpose is making it as clear as they can that they have ZERO confidence in their Coach and GM.

... they have ZERO confidence in their Coach and GM.

That's a very real possibility. Obviously can't say I know that for sure. Suppose we'll find out in January.

If you have a coach and GM you believe in you build each season, if you are losing on purpose it means they failed and you are hoping a single rookie will change everything, that's insane because it never works. A bad team can develop and become a great team, but they don't do so by losing on purpose.

Feel free to make an argument that strategy has worked before, I would be interested in seeing it.

No need to refer to history. I'm more than confident now. And who said anything about just one rookie? This team is full of very young talent. Next year's draft will certainly add key pieces, but that 1st round pick won't have to do it all by himself.

They young LBs drafted in 2016. The safeties drafted in 2017. A great dline. A young improving oline. A solid RB in Powell and a very good Quincy Enunwa.

Now figure a QB in the top 5. Then perhaps a WR or olineman early in the 2nd round. Two immediate starters right there. Free agency (with 90 mil in cap space) to fill a couple holes and things will be golden for 2018 and beyond.
