Just curious: do you also pay women to kick you in the nuts?
Lol, good one.

Seriously though, this season is gonna be a blast. No pressure whatsoever. Watching young players learn and develop, more concerned with progress than wins while also keeping an eye on college QBs.

I mean even screw ups are gonna be fun. Just think, we have two ROOKIE safeties. Now they are damn good prospects, but c'mon we all know they're gonna screw up. Can you imagine Brady-to-Cooks vs some rookie safeties? Bound to be entertaining.

I look forward to the tailgates and pregame parties at the house discussing the young guys and their progress. Then watching them succeed/fail on the field.

If that doesn't sound appealing to someone, they're not a fan of the game. They're just a fan of winning.

I guess that helps you keep the pain away 79.......but you're right, watching the Jets this year will be a blast.

A wise man (even though he wasn't a Patriot) once said...

You play to win the game.

Yes I have loved my Patriots since the 60s, win or lose, but I don't think I ever came up with something as absurd as that even when McPhereson was the coach. That team done messed up your head.

To be clear, I don't enjoy and accept crap. And last year was complete crap. Losing while spending to the max and rostering worthless veterans (like ****zpatrick).

2017 is very, very different. I know all (or at least most, Tuney is a lil slow) of you see how the Jets' gameplan has changed.

If they were trying to do the same thing as last year again, I'd be livid. So I'm certainly not saying to happily support losing no matter what. Not even close.

This current plan though I absolutely love. So why wouldn't I enjoy the season?

Why do you equate losing with no pressure? If anything, this Green Beans team will under MORE pressure be competitive with a bad roster. The only alternative would be giving up, which would be even worse. You just don't get how dangerously DAMAGING this season can be to the franchise if it plays out the way you hope. Teams just don't automatically bounce back into winners after a disastrous season because of a high draft pick and cap money. You have rationalized failure before the fact to the point of wishing for it to fulfill a fantasy wish 10 months away. That is effed up.

Well maybe you and the NE will put a lot of pressure on the Jets to win, but that doesn't mean squat around here.

The Jets basically have 24 preseason games leading up to 2018 imo.

Or, several hundred preseason games dating from January 12, 1969.

In retrospect, since that time, it was more possible to land several men on the moon and win the Cold War than for the JETE to win a Super Bowl.

"We choose to go to the moon and do the other things, not because they are easy, but because they are hahd... but returning the JETE safely to the Super Bowl? Let's not get crazy."

If the Jete don't feel pressure to win they're in the wrong business. I'm sure the Patriots don't give a flying fig what they do and to me, they just suck -- whether they're 0-16 or 8-8.

The year 2018 will be a banner year in multiple ways: another season of Jete suckage AND the landmark 50th consecutive year without a Green Beans championship. Topping it off will be witnessing YOU melting down in despair when you realize that pot o' gold at the end of the 2018 rainbow you've imagined is just another green mirage.

Time will tell.

That would make some sense if you were actually talking about improving, it doesn't when it's about getting worse.

I look at the Bruins and don't expect them to win a Cup next year but I want to see their young players improve and see hope for the future; rooting for them to lose and get worse would just suck, period.

There's no redeeming value in that it's really just misplaced hope that a higher spot in the draft order will lead to more talent, and in the J-E-T-E-S case that is seriously misplaced hope.

Far better would be for them to have made shrewd veteran signings to provide leadership and establish the right culture, as well as Bowles showing he can create a winning team and coach them to tough wins. That's worth rooting for, sucking is going backwards, and as they have shown for decades it doesn't lead to success. It's not the NBA, one star can't do it on their own.

"The same management that couldn't get us out of the basement last season is going to rebuild the Jetes into a Juggernaught. "

"By 2018 no less"

"The tables are turning"

Couldn't disagree more.

Yeah, it's only been 49 years. What does THAT amount of time tell you? Hint: the Jete suck.

That I wish I was 70? So then I could have really enjoyed the Guarantee.

You don't build a winner by losing, cement head.

Oh well since ya put it that way... What was I thinking? You're right!

^^^ sarcasm ^^^

Excellent rebuttal.
He should have been more specific: "I am a desperate believer in unicorns and miracles. I believe that a team with one of the NFL's worst championship droughts going back 49 years will suddenly turn things around by not trying to win this season and by placing all its faith in a draft pick that may or may not be atop the 2018 draft and may or may not become a franchise leader his rookie year."
