This has an opening post with good commentary and information, which we definitely recommend reading.

What you see as losing, I see as avoiding an endless loop of mediocrity.

And I see an endless loop of repetitive posts by you -- no doubt designed to troll the most important thread on this message board into dying of boredom.

So, summing up all of the verbiage, the players and the coach aren't aiming to tank, but the brilliant Front Office has set them up to fail, so, that, at the end of the season, they will bring in new players ... and a shiny, brilliant new coach.

Who will be absolutely jumping at the chance to work in an organization that has so royally shafted the last poor sucker ...

Is that the way the J-E-T-E mind works? I suppose it's possible. It's certainly in line with the rest of the dumb things they do.

Not far off. And keep in mind, almost all of the repetitive posts are actually repetitive replies to the same old repetitive questions/comments.

I can't be rude and ignore 'em now can I?

Though to be fair, they seem to be doing a decent job with Hack now. There was plenty of pressure to play him last year, but they let him sit and learn. And now, unbelievably, there have been a couple good reports on his progress.

Christian Hackenberg nails reporter with throw (Video)

Guess the world looks different when viewed through green colored lenses?

Back to Sanchez, though. I get that he played a couple of decent playoff games, one of his best being the 2010-11 game at Gillette, but he was a terrible quarterback. He was one of those high draft picks where you scratch your head and wonder what the scouts saw. It was like he was throwing a shot put, with a tremendously slow delivery, weak arm strength, wobbly ball, and god awful pocket presence. He played like he was 5'6" in the way he's shrink away. He clearly could not scan the field or read a defense either. I'd rather pick a bigger framed quarterback with a big arm - even a guy like Hackenburg - especially when spending a top 3 pick, and just hope that his mental game eventually makes some strides, as at least the physical tools are there. The first game I saw from Sanchez, I knew he was going to be an ultimate failure because he clearly didn't have the talent to make it. I have to hand it to the Jets for building a team where even he could succeed for a couple of years, albeit at a high cost, much of which they are still paying for years later.
And yet Dirty Sanchez is collecting a paycheck in Dallas. Hopefully he isn't chasing under-aged girls any more. Hey, we're one bad Dak Prescott play away from seeing ol' Sancheese start for Dallas!

Accepting that as the state of the game, as a fan I would much rather see a 2 or 3 win season with young guys developing and making progress vs expensive veterans scratching out enough wins to guarantee the same for the following season.
Let's talk at the end of the season when we see how much "progress" this team makes.

Once Brady retires, you'll see what it's like.
Right, just because the Jets have a **** owner who can't set up a management team and a **** front office that can't draft players and a **** coaching staff that can't develop players, everyone else must too.

1. Even more proof they're doing well with Hack. As hack reporters spew BS, the kid is still making progress. The WR ran the wrong route but the NY media is looking to kill the Jets. Just the way it is.

2. Other than a once in a lifetime 6th round pick, in the existence of the Pats, any evidence otherwise?

What you see as losing, I see as avoiding an endless loop of mediocrity.

It's the current state of the game. Without a good QB, at best you're average. You can draft well and max out your spending. Without a solid QB, you're not going anywhere and will find yourself getting 6 to 9 wins every year.

This just isn't true. Baltimore has been a contender and won a SB with a mediocre Qb.
The giants have won 2 with a mediocre QB. Eli Manning the definition of mediocre has more rings than Aaron Rodgers.
Sf with harbaugh won with bad QBs. KC has been much better than the Jets with Alex Smith. Denver won a SB with a washed up manning who may have been the worst QB in the NFL that season. Seattle won with Wilson being a limited youngster who they had to protect.

You can choose to be a fool and continue that process, or "rebuild" correctly, while trying to nab a franchise QB.
Please provide the list of all the teams that successfully lost on purpose and used that to build a winner.

Hey, I'd prefer the old school rules of the NFL, when a team with a good/violent defense and running game could compete with the flashy/soft passing attacks. But that's not how things are nowadays.

The game is how it is. Play the hand you're dealt.

Once Brady retires, you'll see what it's like.
Having crappy players get experience while getting their butts kicked does nothing for your franchise. It just doesn't.

You're nuts. Baltimore is your best argument there and it took a historically good defense combined with an average QB.

KC hasn't been better than the Jets early Sanchez years. And what good has it done for em?

Denver? Peyton is arguably the goat. Old or not, he was a football genius. (I don't think he's the goat, but there's an argument to be made.)

Seattle? Are you kidding? Please give me Wilson.

How do you prove a team lost purposely? A bad roster? Impossible. Instead look for any team that drafted an early QB.

Agreed. But why would anyone think giving crappy players experience would help? My guess is you're trying to say everyone on the Jets is "crappy", but I'm trying to give you some credit of not being a fool.

No way was anyone saying the Jets should tank for Hack.

I'd ask you to prove it by finding even one post where a Jet fan said that here, but I don't want to have you waste your time. There's no way it happened.

It absolutely happened. It was the year before Hackenberg came out and the Jetefan believed he would be the first overall and the franchise savior.

I never once heard it. Didn't even know who Hackenberg was prior to the draft.

There is no argument at all to be made that Manning is the GOAT, he was a mediocre playoff QB and Brady ended that discussion with their last two Lombardi's.

Well the draftniks certainly did, the year before he came out he was getting the same kind of hype Darnold is getting now. It dropped off the following year and he ended up going much later than they initially predicted he would go.

Based on what I know about his college career, I could see him being hyped up two years prior to being drafted. Supposedly his freshman year was awesome. Then the child molestation Penn State crap happened and the team fell apart. And his next two years were horrible before being drafted.

That's your best move as there is no argument to be made, Manning isn't even in the discussion. In fact there is no discussion any more, it's a done deal. Brady has 5 rings and he is more games over .500 than Montana won in his career. Brady has more playoff wins and rings than Manning and Rodgers do together.

That's pretty much exactly what happened, and there were jetefans in this forum who wanted the jets to tank for him, now they have him and you want to tank for Darnold.

There's another thread floating around with my thoughts on the subject.

I want to tank for the best QB available come draft time. It could be Darnold or [insert name here]. I don't care who it is.

If Hack isn't any good.

People can have whatever "thoughts" they want on it but the FACTS have already ended the debate. Brady is the winningest quarterback in NFL history and his accomplishments dwarf those of anyone who once was in the discussion. Playing quarterback is about winning games and championships, not about passing stats, otherwise Drew Bledsoe would be a better quarterback than Joe Montana. And the way things are set up right now Brady could very well become the first quarterback to win over 30 playoff games, when no one else has more than 15, and he could become the first quarterback to win 6 Lombardi's, no one else will ever come close to this numbers as no one is ever going to win 80% of their games over a career this long.

exactly, thats what makes Brady the GOAT. The GOAT QB debate used to have 2 camps. The winning camp championed Montana, the stats camp championed Marino.

Brady has both.

He is the GOAT at winning as a QB (>.750 winning %, most postseason wins, 11 AFCCG appearances, 7 SB appearances, 5 rings).

He also has the stats:

4th all time in yards (61582)
4th all time in TD (456)
3rd all time in passer rating (97.3)
4th all time in completions (5244)

Your desperate rationalization is all so wrong. Super Bowls have been won by teams having merely competent QBs with good players around them, superior defenses and great coaching. You want a messiah at one position you assume is there for the taking with a top draft pick. You're convinced the only way to get him is to LOSE FOOTBALL GAMES, roll the dice and HOPE to hit the lottery. Your team is in the position it is now because it has been seriously mismanaged, not because it's "smartly planning" the way you believe. The Jete stink like a fish rotting from the head-down.

That goal being LOSING, for years to come. What a crap franchise. You deserve every minute of it.

Losing suits Jets fans to a T. Their most recent claim to fame (if you can call 8 years ago 'recent') is that they went to the AFC title game twice in a row and lost.

That awful shade of green that they wear also fits them perfectly. Puke green.
