What's your least favorite transaction of the BB era?

Haynesworth. The guy was a complete jackass. I hope they disinfected his locker and burned his s--t when he left.

Do I blame BB for it? Hell no. Let he who is without sin cast the first stone. Like you and I haven't done stupid stuff.

I hate threads like this because people evaluate individual transactions without looking at the bigger picture. It's like saying Brady threw the dumbest INT ever against the Seahawks in the Super Bowl in the red zone, absolutely ****ing terrible. Yes, that's true, but guess what? We also won the freaking Super Bowl! We could talk about Brady's pick 6 against Atlanta too, but again, it misses the bigger picture. You know, that we won the Super Bowl. Someone let Markie Mark know.

Take the Mankins example. Yes, he had a few seasons left in him. But if he's on the roster in 2014, maybe we don't win it all. Maybe he clashes with Googs to the point of causing a distraction. Googs sucked, no doubt about it, but maybe Mankins wouldn't put up with it and cause internal conflict because he doesn't want to follow things.

And the money that we saved could be seen as potentially going towards re-signing McCourty, or extending Cannon or Chung. All 3 helped us win our 2016 Super Bowl as well. So maybe we don't win either with Mankins aboard. You can't just change one thing in the past without a domino effect happening.

And it's not like we're the Jets wondering "what if Peyton Manning came out a year earlier..." We are the defending champs, have two Super Bowls in the past 3 years, and we're going to nitpick about some 3rd round LB who didn't work out or some G who got traded to the Bucs or some FA that didn't work out.

We all know other fan bases hate us. But maybe it's not the team. Maybe it's just us. And maybe we deserve it.

Maybe it's just them, and they deserve it.

Trading Moss.

He has been in training camps with the Patriots after retirement, has a good friendship with Brady, and even that year he exchanged hugs with Tom and BB after the game with the Vikings so the impression is that there was no bad blood at all so BB could have handled that situation internally I think. The Pats spent years suffering trying to find a replacement and never worked out, actually the hope is that Brandin Cooks can be that guy who can stretch the field.
They already have that guy. I actually think Chris Hogan is an excellent deep guy. It probably took the Patriots to give him a chance, but he's made it work for him in the usual Patriot way -- by being super smart and sneaky

With Cooks and Mitchell as well as Hogan, the outside is now wide open for the Patriots as well as the inside. What we have on our hands is a CB's worst nightmare.

Duane Starks Joey Galloway Reggie Wayne because of the end result drafting Hernandez

Then don't participate. Or does the irony of spreading negativity about something that is hurting no one escape you?
" ... the irony of spreading negativity about something that is hurting no one ... " That's certainly a mouthful. What does it mean?

Wayne was a late camp pickup at the end of his days with low expectations who never did anything. Hardly a case of the worst move ever.
Starks and Galloway both hurt us on the field, particularly Starks.

Can't fault a cheap signing of a guy who once was dominant then got lazy.
Worth the chance he gets his motivation back and we didn't lose a thing by giving it a shot.

Bledsoe's Record Deal: 10 Years, $103 Million

Among the comments by Kraft:

Bledsoe has a chance to be remembered in Boston like Ted Williams, Bill Russell and Larry Bird, each having played his entire career in the city. "I remember feeling sad when Bobby Orr left...I saw this as an opportunity to sign one of the great Patriots for the rest of his career.''

"This is a very happy day in the life of the New England Patriots.''

"Sometimes, our friends in the media like to stir the pot. To help circulation, I guess.''

I understand your beef with Kraft for dumping Pat Patriot, but it shouldn't sway you in the case of Bledsoe. The article you provided proves to me that Kraft and Belichick had no intention of trading him away. They wouldn't have heaped all of that praise and money on him if they were looking to get rid of him.

That was March and then came training camp and a stronger, smarter Tom Brady showed up, and when Bledsoe went down in game #2 it gave him a chance to show what he could do. The kid did pretty well.

Call me crazy but i don't know what bothers more 2006 lost or 2007 lost, it sucks the 2nd half of the 2000s could of been legendary for us, imagine we win in '06 and repeat perfect season in '07 and Brady doesn't tear his knee in '08 easy 3 peat imo but oh well, as for the thread title got nothing to complain about really just won our 5th Super Bowl and have the best team on paper since '07 going into this season but if i had to choose i would see keeping Branch would of got us #4 in '06 but maybe things happen for a reason whose not to say if we win the SB in 06 that we would been aggressive the year after [going after Moss/Welker] sort of like a domino effect every thing that happened so far lead us to where we are at know so there's nothing to complain about really tho tbh Brady could have easily won a couple rings within that 10 year drought but he has 5 and on his way to 6 so we are good no worries or complaints i bet BB is sitting in his office right now drinking orange juice going over his plans for the upcoming season

Funny, nobody has mentioned benching the star qb (or trading him to Jills) for a 6rnd draft choice. At the time, there were a lot of folks saying it was a bad decision.

I used to call them Bledsoles.

Nope. I fault Hanesworth, not Belichick. When I was a kid, I bought nothing but cheap cars. Occasionally I'd get a total dud; other times I'd get one for $300 that would go for a couple of years. I mean, BB drafted a runt qb and got Edelman. We fans would be quite the ingrates to complain.

Punctuation, man. Someone might actually read it then.

Ochocinco. I actually liked him as a player and would've loved to have him earlier in his career, but I watched him get absolutely shut down by Revis and left him literally crying on the sidelines. Fast forward a few months after we get knocked out of the playoffs by the Jets and we add a guy that Revis blanketed with ease.

Sheesh. Gronk really IS gigantic.

Well, I honestly cannot say that's the worst transaction, because the fact is, it opened crucial cap space for the acquisition of several free agents who contributed vitally to the '01 title.

But it had been clear to me at least for several years that the Patriots were going absolutely nowhere with Bledsoe. He had to go, and I must count it as a rare misjudgement for Belichick not to see it as he did with Kosar.

The reason I posted it is to illuminate how insanely off-base Kraft is, first lumping Drew in with the G.O.A.T.'s in their respective sports (sorry, at best he ranks sixth on list of all-time best Patriot QB's), and referring to the media as "our friends". No, he didn't mean it facetiously.
