All Charges Against Darelle Revis Dismissed

Since the question has been raise about the possibility of return of Revis, I'd be all for it IF Butler is moved.

Clearly he wasn't in shape last season and clearly his skill have diminished.....some what. That being said it's not like we'd be expecting him to shut down one side of the field. We'd be expecting him to be as good or better than Logan Ryan. THAT I think he could be.

He knows the system, he knows the coaching staff. He was a good teammate when he was here and his experience could add to the development of Jones, Jones, AND Gilmore. He also is a very prideful man. I think he wouldn't want his legacy to be the player he was last season. I suspect he'd redicate himelf this off season to coming back in the best shape he can be, and have a great year on whatever team he plays for. We will have the cap room. Plus the fact that the Jets would likely pay most of his salary would be icing on the cake.

IF and only if Butler goes, I think the next best replacement would be Revis. BTW- a good contract would be to guarantee the $6MM of the Jets money, then give him another $3 in incentives, like games played, snaps, etc.

I can see your point on the Porter thing, where there was a dashboard tape that seemed to cooberate the charges. But the case against Revis was weak from the start, when the voice on the tape was clearly not him. What was the judge to do when a guy testifies that HE was the guy who punched the guys out and his voice matched the tape.

I'm usually with you on the systematic unfairness of the legal system, which has become the best system money can buy, but in this one incident, I think justice was served.
I certainly agree with you that justice was served, Ken.

I was speaking to the fact that serious charges continue to be filed in weak cases, only to be completely dismissed within days or weeks. There is a system in place here that is failing. The cops and district attorney are not on the same page.

I would bring him back if butler leaves. I read an article where it said he started the season out of shape. He was around 217 to 218 from the 198 in 2015. He said he hired a trainer and has lost 10 pounds. I hope bill look's into it. It would be hilarious if this guy started to play well again.

He was almost 220. Clearly that could have affected his play.

I'm sorry but I don't want him here, his best days are behind, also the way he exited NE was messed up, then sending his mother to pickup his ring, obviously he don't give a damn about the franchise who helped him get a ring...
I don't want him here, most of the guys on our roster are better than him.

I respectfully disagree. The only thing that would motivate Revis sufficiently is $. When it was on the line, every contract year, he was all business, in shape and on best behavior. The next year, he couldn't care less. I don't think he feels his legacy is tarnished. He got his money. Some of the highest contracts (read: respect) in history for a CB. He's innocent of all charges. He'll always be loved in NY, and is sure HOFer.

He might even kid himself, and think he wants it. But it'll be a half assed attempt, and when TC, practices and the season starts, he'll ask"what the heck did i get myself into?"

Something tells me he is making his way back here. He's young enough that there is no reason he can't be a shut down #2 corner. Get in shape, get motivated and that's a heck of a chip to have in the defensive backfield.

I don't know about *shutdown* corner. But I think a properly motivated Revis could still be a pretty effective #2 corner, at least for a year.

If the Pats dealt Butler, then do the one year signing of Revis for low money and see if he can put together one more really good season.

If he didn't care about winning, he wouldn't have come here in the first place.
I disagree. In my opinion the contract he signed to come here was designed to set him up for one last big pay day. If he cared about winning like you say he would have stayed here.

Pays to have a fall guy ... Cris Carter justified.

It's ok to leave because you received a better offer but the way he acted afterwards showed he has no class. His Instagram rant, his stupid comments about cheating, the ring thing with his mom. The only reason to sign him is so we could have the pleasure of releasing him during training camp.

Thank you. It boggles my mind why people continue to forget these comments as if they don't mean anything. He throws unfounded accusations out there like bombs and guys are supposed to suppress that IF he comes back?

It's funny how that was the sentiment he has. He didn't care about the "stuff going on" when he was winning a Super Bowl ring that he will NEVER win again, yet as soon as he puts on another jersey he goes and blabs.

I'm sorry, he will always be a mercenary in my mind. 1 and done. He ruined it by making those comments.

He had a fall guy who's now a little bit richer.

Im not liking the idea of him coming back. All that crap he said had co workers of mine talking junk to me for a year.

Plus the two guys who were cold-****ed told the judge that they would not be able to identify the person who hit them if eventually asked to testify at a trial. Pretty much the definition of an open-and-shut "non case."

I'm sure that Belichick will take that into account when he makes his decision.

I'm reading the positive reactions of some of the posters here of this guy who repeatedly called the Patriots cheaters to the press when he left with my jaw on the floor.

I really don't know what to say to them.

**** Revis.

They should invite his mom up for another party and turn her away from the door again.

.

What about the charge of "impersonating a professional cornerback"?

Has he been cleared of THAT charge yet?

Hope he feels that same way if Goodell decides the was ample proof he was involved in crime, and innocent or not, he'll be facing a 2 game suspension.

Odds of that (factors to consider: Goodel, Jets, Pity) = 0.0% Not that there isn't precedent I think (anyone recall something similar where RG stepped in).

Revis doesn't care about winning. I don't want a guy like that here.

I think you are right. Revis just likes people talking about him.
