If you personally had the seasons that MB had..won us a SB ect...and saw someone bring in someone else to take your spot getting paid top 4 CB $$...you would be a little pissed off no matter what situation.

I get he waited longer to get his deal ect ect. But you have to admit you would be ticked off hearing that news
You'd have to guess that something took place prior to their decision to bring Gilmore in. Maybe the contract talks went sour? Either way, you make a good point. Yeah, I'd probably be pissed off, too.

I hope we can get a first whether its from a trade or offer sheet. That way we can use it on another CB in a deep draft and pair him w/ Gilmore for 5 years on cheap cheap money.
I do not think you should not put Saints in this catagory. I dont think saints would offer a #1st for Butler unless he would be signed for under 8 mill, and I dont see that happening, unless some SP/BB buddy thing was going on. We dont have the cap for it.

No. If the Saints make an offer that the Pats don't want to match, then New England is entitled to their #11 pick. Period. That should remain part of the bargain. The Saint can take Malcolm, with the reassurance that Belichick will not match.
ok you obviously didn't read my post. I stated (twice, no less) that it would take all 3 parties willing to agree to negotiate a deal for less than the #11 pick. So there is room to negotiate if all 3 parties want.

I have no idea if NE would settle for #32 (or less) for Butler. But it is a theoretical possibility, so there is plenty of room for all 3 parties to negotiate.

They had to have gone very sour I think. Gilmore was called out of the blue that morning and 3 hours later he was a Patriot. No one saw that coming. Something happened between the two sides.

Then his name in the Cooks deal. I didn't think he was coming back when Gilmore was signed that quickly

I think he's getting traded shortly after he signs his tender, unfortunately. Still think he'll end up in New Orleans.

Why would the Patriots be willing to take a lower pick when they have all the leverage to get a higher one?
They have 1 year worth of leverage. They could theoretically accept #32 because they may feel taking #32 today is better than losing him in a year for nothing.

I admit I have no idea what the Patriots are thinking but I find the above very believable.

They may want to looking at Loomis' draft record. I'd be pretty comfortable trading away most of the draft lol.

Steelers beat writer cant recall his name is saying the Steelers should make a play for him.
As could and should the Eagles.

Wish we would of kept Ryan.
Does this open up the door for Revis?
Makes perfect sense.

Butler can try to do this all he wants... the Patriots will not let him walk except on their terms

Man I really hope we just keep him... Its probably gonna be like the Chandler Jones trade and we just end up with a second rounder and some **** player

Chandler jones turned into joe thunder and Malcolm Mitchell.

LOL So true, but that also came from goddell destroying the team and draft so loomis was trying to rebuild through FA, and picked the wrong guys before suspended.

I don't blame Malcolm for trying to get the big bucks, but you're already slotted to make almost 4 million on the tender, far more than anything you've ever made in past seasons or when you were working at Popeyes...

Sign it and negotiate.

He's really in no position to demand to get paid a gigantic contract. He's essentially played only two full seasons in the NFL. His rookie year in 2014 was essentially a red shirt year and while yes, he's known for his play in the Super Bowl, he did virtually nothing that entire season and was inactive for the majority of it.

That's like DJ Foster playing well next season, having a decent year three, then demanding to get paid like Le'veon Bell. Give me a break bro...

I agree that the Steelers should consider making a play for him, but the manner in which it would have to go down may be prohibitive.

Pittsburgh isn't normally a team who's interested in giving up a first round pick AND a major market CB deal, so it would be a bit of a surprise.

Signing Gilmore and paying him $40m GTD while leaving him out there earning peanuts was always going to create resentment, he's never playing for the Pats at the tender number if he doesn't get traded he'll hold out until mid season until the deadline where he still gets a credited season.
If he does that, the potential fines could wipe out the 4 million almost entirely. If he /doesn't/ sign by the deadline, he either plays for a 10 percent raise or his contract tolls. I believe that's how it works. So either way, he'd be blowing 3-4 million dollars.

That's exactly the point. Why should the Pats settle for less than the #11 pick? They own Butler's rights, and can even franchise tag him if need be.

Belichick has the leverage to dictate how a trade agreement gets facilitated.

Lol I don't understand most of what that guy does. Pays a premium for guys like Ingram and Spiller when your offense is already one if the best in the league and the defense blows and you are tight up against the cap.
