Pats interested in Saints WR Brandin Cooks

Well weve been linked to Cooks Jackson what are they known to have?
Multiple productive seasons as primary receiving options in successful offenses at the NFL level.

They aren't serious about trading him if they turned down that offer. We don't know the details but if it was straight up #18 for Cooks and the Saints rejected it then they can't be serious as no one is going to go higher than that for a two year contract.
Cousin, I do see a scenario. The Saints wants a player as well. If they indeed are serious about Cooks, you might dangle Grissom as a pass rush option they seek and #32. He showed up some in pre season (that is the point...pre-season) but he has some Edge potential.
Still.....I think Cooks is a luxury.
You have the big four at WR (unless DA balks at a cut) and I really think they have thought enough about Floyd to get him back in the mix suspension or no. They have an investment in him for some "large" in 2016.

After seeing what Marshall got and what Jackson wants, a one year prove it on Floyd would work rather than FA costs. Trade? So Cooks in a trade and under Team control for two years adds to the depth, but his cost of a player and top pick make Floyd a better option. Not saying better player, but there is untapped potential with Floyd and he is still young. He will be cheap.

Elandon Roberts and #32 might impress the Saints but I see Roberts as Hightower insurance. Perhaps that is why they did not put the tag on DH?

Grantland also had a great feature piece on Cooks leading up to the 2014 draft that I think anyone who likes his game should watch. I liked him in college, but liked him even more after reading it: The Big Promise of Brandin Cooks. After reading that, it's really hard to conclude that he's anything other than an asset re: locker room culture, teamwide accountability, and overall mental toughness. If you're trying to build a locker room full of mentally tough, hardworking leaders, he's exactly the kind of guy you want.

Every offseason, we have a dozen different threads about "we should trade our first rounder for player X who's either super expensive already or will be in 1-2 years, because that guy is better than what we will likely pick at the end of the first round" and 90% of the time I'm one of the guys going the other way and arguing that cost control is too important, and there's a ton of talent available in the late first, and it's where the Pats get the premium production at a cheap price that's pretty much necessary to make your cap structure work. It's not a familiar position to be on the other side of things, arguing that we *should* make a trade like this for a guy who's on the tail end of his rookie deal. But Cooks is that good, and that perfect of a fit. I'd trade the 32 for him without question.

Yeah I read that. Hes not what people believe or how this silly stuff that has come out in th News is trying to make a controversy. You would expect patriots fans to get that. This is a good kid but misunderstood because he wants to be a monster. No this kid wants to be a monster. His head up field is perfect. He pumps up guys and hates to lose. Maybe being on a team thats 7-9 ticks him off when he puts up 1500 yrds.... would me.
Watch him bump other players. This is not a bad kid. Hes and asset in the locker room but hates to lose...problem with that ?
#32 is cheap because this kid has it. I know lol BradyFTW your always against these things. So must be hard for you to go the other way, but I think your right this time.
Some got mad because SP didnt take #18 pick and think SP isnt serious. Totally not true. SP has alot of time to farm this kid to alot of teams, but he will trade him, because of the defensive needs of NO. Rem what we got from seattle for Graham ?
SP always has BB on the inside track, and Im sure BB was not willing to give SP a great DE ot LB with the trade for Cooks.
So... he farmed him
SP turning down the #18 pick to me means hes still serious about the patriots offer. Others read that differnt. I dont because I think he has a team in mind but they wont give him what he wants. Cant think of anyone but patriots.
But BB is not giving him what he wants. So SP calls him and say #18 Bill ? Still think you wont give me that LB also?
I think SP wants Cooks in NE, and thats why hes doing this, but he wants more from BB, and that might go to the end. They have a long time to haggle, but in the end I think hes going to NE IF , big IF we get a good defensive player, and thats not to bad. BB is great at getting good replacement players. Cooks reminds me of Marshal Falk witch is weird .

Our offense will be absolutely filthy if we land either Cooks or Jackson. I don't expect either but Cooks would be a fantastic addition. Too bad the Saints seem to be asking for far too much.

What about Trading Vincent Valentine or Malcom Brown for Brandin Cooks
It more than likely would be a 1st and Valentine.
Honestly I love Valentines potential but I would do it.
Or Malcolm Brown straight up.

Idont thing SP is asking to much you want a #32 WR unknown ? or a proven product that is young ?

Do you think Valentine and a 1st or Brown Malcom straight up would get it done?

Wow, I like Cooks but there just is no real need (and that price?)........I'll pass

We need a Pass-Rusher more than we need Brandon Cooks.

Point made, but Harvin does have a ring with the Seahawks, doesn't he?

Sure - - he played the Terry Glenn 5 game season before getting ****canned by a team that got better by his substraction and then went on a roll.

He is every bit the Super Champion with the Seahawks that Glenn was for the Patriots in 2001.

Does anyone even remember he was ON that team?

.

Maybe ware has something left and they can get him cheap.

Maybe but NO needs a LB or a solid DE and I think SP would trade for a very good defensive player, knowing your going to do the same with jimmy. I dont think SP wants a pick . He wants one of your players and bb is not willing to give that up. So .Which one ?
SP is show boating so BB can see what he is worth and come back to the table to talk , I think.

seriously .. how do you give up a #18 pick, unless you know where this kid is going and its just a matter of how much. Same as my pick for SB Cooks is going to NE as long as SP gets a fair deal for NO, and we need a good defensive player. Think about this, any bonehead would have taken the #18 deal. No SP already knows where cooks is going. I dont want you to have cooks ok , lol so you know

maybe?
Malcom Butler would be crazy but if he wants top 3 money I could see BB trading him and resigning Ryan sounds crazy but this is BB
