I think a more accurate phrasing is, "people don't think a stretch the field receiver is usually worth the money." Hogan made the field his personal rubber band in several games last year and I don't see anyone complaining about it.

Cooks and Jackson can do a lot more than just run verticals. Cooks especially can line up in the slot. They also add a dimension as a punt returner.

Or do you prefer the ever so sure handed Cyrus Jones?

Do you really care how flashy the WR is if he helps us improve our team?

Yes I care because for the price of one Desean Jackson we can have Robert Woods plus 2 additional good depth players. And everything considered the drop off is not that big.

What you just don't get is that it is more about the price than anything else. I take 75% of Jackson at 5m over 100% at 10m.

Don't see any reason why Jones should not have another crack at being the returner in the coming season. He has a lot of skill and production doing it. Whether he can overcome his mental block is another story altogether.

People like you are the reason that BB gets away with building a great roster every year because they overvalue archetypical players and leave others to be picked up on the cheap. People like you are the reason why there are talking heads on tv saying that players like Edelman are system players that wouldn't start in any other team. People like you don't understand the game of football on the most fundamental level.

And people like you are in the media, GMs and even coaches at other teams. Thank God our coaching staff is not like that and understands how to properly evaluate players relative to what they are earning.

No you are wrong. This discussion is about Amendola. Don't mention Edelman, I don't view Edelman on the same level as Amendola. Edelman is a great WR. We are talking Amendola. You just wasted your breathe on that nonsense.

And spare me, I know the way the patriots run their system, and I have read every book out there on the way patriots run there front office, spare me.

We don't even know what the cost of Jackson could be.

You have written so much ******** and nonsense this year that tells me otherwise. And the fact that you can't even completely comprehend why I mentioned Edelman in my rant about how you and many other people overvalue archetypical players is pretty damning in itself.

We have heard from multiple people that it starts north of 10m. Not sure what else you need to know.

Let's stop with the personal attacks and focus on football. My point I argued was desean Jackson is better than Danny Amendola. Do you agree or disagree?

Those same reports indicate Belichick is inquiring for an elite speedy WR. We offered number 32 overall for a WR. Do you Believe that report? Do you believe that's the Belichick way?

I agree with fnord. With a playoff game on the line, a clutch play needed, I want the ball to go to Dola, not DJ.

That's where " worth the money" comes in. The big money deep threats aren't worth the money, but a guy with Hogans contract leading the league in YPC definitely is. I wouldn't pay Jackson 11 million but I would pay him 3.

What exactly does this response have to do with my post? Did you quote the wrong comment?

I know, that's why I said, "usually."

I believe that there are certain players Belichick comes across that he deems "special, " and if they become available he tries to get them. Cooks is one of those players, and he could be an All Pro in this system, so Belichick made s strong offer for him. That doesn't mean however that he will give anything to get him.

Amendola has made 15.6m since 2013 while Jackson has made 31.2m in the same span of time. Relative to their earnings Amendola was the more impactful player and therefore had more value especially because it left money to pay for more depth on the roster.

That same locker room guy is turning 32, an age where WRs usually fall of a cliff. So far, indications are Amendola could be a cap casualty.

The only ones speculating about Amendola have been the media and the fans.. There hasn't been a peep from the Pats.

Also. Amendola doesn't turn 32 until November.. After mid season.. So let's not pretend like he turns 32 before the season even starts..

My final offer to Jackson would be 2 yrs 14 million.

I'd offer cooks 8-9 million per year. He's only 23, and he can do it all. He could be our future.
