2017 NFL Combine Thread

He wants to be a Pat. He knows he has to fall some...

I bet he lands in Denver. He would work so well with their blocking scheme, plus the family relations will certainly help.

They were banged up at running back this year as well, which could create a higher sense of urgency.

Here's a thought. Lot of talk about BB not trading JG but there's also been talk about the Saints loving Garropolo and today there's a story about the Saints trading Brandin Cooks for a first round pick. Might they be freeing up a first rounder to try and trade for Jimmy G? Just speculation connecting up some, probably imaginary, dots from a couple of stories today.

I think New Orleans and Arizona are the dark horses. My deep down hope is that Cleveland overplays their hand, think they can get him at 12, only for him to get dealt for the pick before.

I honestly have nothing against the Browns, but their snivelling fans talking about the value of their picks has made me cheer for their demise. I also would prefer JimmyG to land with a good coach, and not many better than Sean Peyton

The reason New Orleans is particularly interesting is because Peyton must have had a good look on Jimmy over the last few years in the joint camp sessions. Next to our own staff he might have the best idea about how consistent/"good" Jimmy is.

This is why the Combine can be overrated. Pumphrey with only 5 reps, but he's a tough runner for his size. You're not drafting him to be a weightlifter; you're looking for a spark in the return game and as a pass-catching back.

Personally, there are so many useless "competitions" at the combine but the bench press might be among the worst. Each of those kids will be subject to a normal NFL strength and conditioning program upon arrival at their team.

What is this testing ? How much time RBs spend in the weight room ? Personally, I am mostly only interested in body/arm/hand sizes and then the tests that measure explosiveness.

I see Mahomes or Kizer for Arizona. The issue for Jimmy in NO is that he'd have to sit a year presumably.

Pharaoh brown with the longest wingspan ever for a TE.

NBD

Saw that too which means Great Catch Radius. I am into Big Hands and long Wing span ie...Gorilla arms and Mikey Mouse Hands.:D

i have seen reports Shaheen coming to us in the second round.. in all honesty i think this is a wasted pick. I rate the guy, and think he will be good but he shouldn't be going that high. Early to mid 3rd round i think. He will need to learn an awful lot as the difference between 2nd div and NFL is huge, but then again the guy is massive!

Really small hands for a Guy his side though now I'm mixed.

Njoku big wingspan good, are Shaheen hands to small?

I don't know on Shaheen to make a comparison on WR's based on hand size. Aaron Dobson had small hands Malcom Mitchell have Gronk like hands. Did that play a role in their success with the Patriots?? Things that make you go Hmmmm.

Two WR's I like based on measurables are Juju Smith-Schuster and Chad Henson both have Big Hands and decent Wing Span. If both run well the sky's the limit.

Manx the last few years you had GA Tech guy, as a one of your blinkys. This year there is a WR from Air Force , big strong kid with huge wingspan/hands but raw... ( Smelter 2.0? )
He may need a redshirt year, but who doesnt get that in Patriots?
Something i miss or what?

Did someone say Smelter ? :D The Binkie memories..

Anyone followed him in San Francisco and what happened ?

Word is that Garrett blew everyone away with his physique during the weigh in; I expect we're going to see an incredible show.

DeMarcus Walker: 6-3 5/8, 280 pounds, 10 1/2 hands, 33 inch arms, 79 5/8 wingspan

Love it!

Bingo. If what they saw in the 1.5 games matches what they saw in many practices, including those this year with the 1's, it could erase the doubts other teams naturally have about sample size.
If not for Brees' situation, I would think this is a slam dunk. But maybe they have a plan.
They have 11, the pick before Cleveland. But I think the Saints are the ideal "2017 2nd plus 2018 1st" candidate. A cooks trade replaces this year's pick and they go big on defense with the retained picks. An improved defense makes them a playoff team again and then they have their future QB take over.
